Nintendo runs over Sony market value in Japan |

With Nintendo's momentum driven by the DS and Wii, it was only a matter of time 'til Sony fell behind. After a decade of domination, the carrier of the PlayStation brand has finally been overtaken by Ninty in their home country.Nintendo shares in Japan went up 1.9% to ¥46, 300 (US$ 374), increasing market value to ¥6.56 trillion (US$ 53 billion). Sony, on the other hand, lost 0.9% and dropped to ¥6,490 (US$ 52) with a market value at ¥6.51 trillion.
Unlike Blu-ray's success over HD-DVD, Sony's console and handheld are losing to Nintendo. It's no secret that the Wii and DS are outselling the PS3 and 360 in almost all corners of the world.
Then again, the difference between Sony and Nintendo's market values aren't that far apart. A lot of us simply don't see Sony backing down anytime soon. It's pretty obvious who's got favorable winds pushing them through, but we'll have to wait and see how long Nintendo can keep the momentum.

sony will get their with gta4, liar, hevenly sword, metel gear solid, devil may cry, assasins creed, and others comming out.
Those should take back the loss made my the ps3, while other sony products such as tv's are soaring.

i just read this in yesterday's Sunday Newspaper...
The Nintendo Wii has reached the 100,000 mark after just 6 months (post release)...
For comparative purposes they mentioned that the PS3 has sold 45,000 within 3 months of release...
Now to me... for a console 3 times the price of the other, the PS3 is doing good in my neighborhood.

actually it's easier for asians to look younger than their age... so it wouldn't be pushing it to say that it's possible for 90% of them to 40 at 55.

Neither the Wii or PS3 has anything showig what it's capable of so far. They've barely been out half a year and you're already ditching one of them?
What was the point in getting one if you weren't going to give it chance to get out some good games like SSBB, MP3, SMG etc.?

It will be a while (if at all) for Sony to match Nintendo or even pass them again. With such positive feedback going for it its no wonder they're number one....again. And the best games aren't even out yet. There are a handful of good titles out right now and the Wii is dominating with those few. Nintendo is back on top and they aren't looking back so I say good for them. This console war was won when Sony revealed that price tag.
Also it doesn't matter if a few posters here dont like the Wii. It's not like they determine the market share/value of anything.
Keep your titles sony suckers, it won't get you no where.

there are times in life where it takes only one person to make a big change. Also, that price tag will lose it's power over the PS3 soon enough. You'll see... YOU'LL ALL SEE!!! Wii sucks, that's a fact, ps3 sucks right now for his games, xbox 360 is the only console which is nice at this times.
Xbox will be like the temporal real entertaiment system while ps3 and wii releases his good games. The gamecube sucked hard, the wii is a new try but with bad games, the only good ones are SSMB, Metroid, and that's all. PS3 well, MGS4, the new remake of street fighter 2, Final Fantasy, and so many.. PS3 is the future.. Wii rushed and got stuck in a little better gamecube graphics and with less game library..

Personally im glad that after years and years of mediocre games and systems by Nintendo they are finally having a slice of the action again. If they didnt make it good this time I think they would have been out of the game much like Sega a few years ago. Who would have thought that Nintendo would carry Sega games if you looked at the market before PS1 showed up? Effectively the 2 markets are so different, the 2 consoles are aiming at completely different markets and they both work in there own way, so fanboys can bat arguments back and forth till the cows come home, I just think its funny. I can understand having loyalty to one console or another, but every console whatever it is has advantages and disadvantages. If one of them really did 'suck' as seems to be the standard argument from any fanboy against a console they dont support then that console would fade away wouldnt it? Apparently dreamcast sucked then?!? Anyhow, enjoy the competition and maybe try out the other consoles rather then shouting about how crap you think they are.

360's gonna win this battle, Sony will ***** everything up as usual and the Wii is just a temporary system.
Nintendo is gaining momentum no, but many analysts say the hype will soon die down after awhile, and Sony could easily take over...since the Wii does not have a very strong hardware, not that many developers who have visions of creating hyperrealistic games will back it, but Sony's got a very capable console to do those things, and as for 360, i think it will do better than the original xbox, but still losing to Sony this time around.

Ive got all system's, well new system's. Ps3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii. And i would personally halfta side with Nintendo Wii for now. I see many pro's and con's. Ps3 for one is way to over-priced, but its graphic's, hardware acceleration is a bit more complex when it come's to the mechanic's of how the machine work's. Xbox 360, is ok, but the online fee's use to be expensive. But did you already know about Xbox 360, a new Xbox 360, is being released soon? I mean, this one, has almost all of the function's of that Ti-Vo or whatever, and is capable of doing much more... yet the only sole provider for the service, is AT&T, which suck's ingeneral. Now Nintendo Wii... the new control's are quite fun, and i believe many people will go with the Nintendo Wii, not only for exercise purpose, but also, because of the new, well control system. The motion sensor's built into the controller and such, is amazing, yet it lack's some thing's. The power, is crappy if you intend on playing for long amounts of time, with out recharging the Wii remote's battery power. I would say, Nintendo Wii is doing great for now, but if they dont pick up the pace, with the graphic rendering, and game production, then they just may end up falling behind, sony, completely. For Xbox 360, they really messed up, with the production, to come out with newer Xbox 360 system's, i mean, this one you have to BUY you cannot use a UPDATE or PATCH to patch anymore flaw's, its built into the hardware itself, into the machine, so you halfta spend even more MONEY to buy the new Xbox 360. So until now, i really cannot say, Xbox is doing great, but at least their hanging in their... D@mn bill gate's... no wonder their's so many flaw's in the Xbox 360... {Reverse Engineerer's and hacker's would understand where im coming from, for the Xbox 360 flaw's, and game designer's and program developer's would understand somewhat what im saying about taking hold of the advanced feature's of the Nintendo Wii.} Also PSP, is awesome, its just sony kept making new update's, that kept making the PSP a SMALL BIT better, while at the same time ruining its better function's, which homebrewer's like you, and myself, could literally create. In General Sony has both increased and decreased the PSP's performance, and homebrew ability's, but if you know how to tamper with the cpu's inside the psp, including completely reverse engineering all of it, gaining the complete schematic's which is illegal, then you will truely learn, how to make much better homebrew software/tool's. I do hope what i said wasnt to much.
