Nike offers Sony their thanks with new PlayStation-themed trainers |
If you're an avid Nike collector, you might want to set your eyes on this. The famed sports apparel company, who has previously collaborated with Sony on console-themed kicks, is saying their thanks to Sony by coming out with a new PlayStation-themed design sneakers. Only 24 of them, to be precise.
Another problem apart from the very limited stock: it won't be for public consumption. Ron Eagle, director of product publicity for the PlayStation Brand, narrated how he got a call from Nike to pitch the said PS-themed shoes to Sony as their "thank you."
When I got the call and was told that they wanted to make a shoe, of course the first thing I asked was … what kind? They told me they were working on a new training shoe, one that would be technically very advanced, but would harken back to some of the great training shoes from their past, like the ones worn by Bo Jackson and John McEnroe. As soon as they said the word McEnroe – I was completely sold as the original Air Trainer 1, is one of my all time favorite shoe designs and something I remember wearing to school.
It started from there, asking me about favorite colors, and anything that I did or didn't like. The designers are just so good at taking input and making really slick creative choices, that when the line drawings come over, I'm just stunned. As you already know, we like to do things that haven't been done or are totally unique and that was one of the things that the guys at Nike knew that they wanted to do when they asked me what I liked.
I wonder who the other 23 lucky PlayStation team members will be taking one of these babies home. I mean, Eagle will obviously get one for himself.

Man these would sell like hot cakes on the street. I want some dammit!!!!!!!!!
i didnt even like nike till i saw this
is some tight sht right here...damn this would be a must buy...these sure look better than those 360 shoes posted on here
I notice how it says "The famed sports apparel company... is saying their thanks to Sony" but why are they saying thanks to them? I work at staples and this kind of reminds me how one time a customer came up to me and said thanks for helping me, where I made a confused look, only later he would actually ask for my help.
Those things look awful, why would anyone want to wear something that looks like that? And I have to agree with Kon_e3's "Why are they saying thanks" bit, it's just weird.
but the pink bedding is not
charlybob those things are awful.ugly as f%uck at that.Im a nike and big playstation fan but they f%ucked this up they don't even show the front of it cuz its so ugly.
I've almost wanted to stand on my Psp a few times and that's the closest to Playstation themed trainers i'd ever wear.
Nike came out with a limited edition playstation shoe like 5 years ago. http://limitedhype.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/playstation-air-force-ones-2-494x269.jpg
