Whenever we get news from Twitter, we usually get mere hints, rumors, and minor teases. But in his Twitter page, Mortal Kombat's Ed Boon was quite direct when it came to the violence they're gonna be packing into Mortal Kombat 9. For the MK fans out there - here's an encouraging bit of news: there will be blood and lots of it.

Replying to one of the page's followers, Ed Boon definitely got his point across - MK has always been known for its bloody splatterfests and it would be damn shame not to capitalize on it.

Despite the financial difficulties, Midway Games still has a lot of blood left in 'em, and they're gonna spill even more in the next MK. No further information than that, but it's information that's most welcome.

Hang in there Midway:

Bring some classic gameplay with some next-gen HD graphics were you can feel the blood in your face and you'll end up with an awesome MK game.

» sigh

We told them we wanted an M rated game before, They thought it would be more fun seeing if we would still buy their neutered game and most of us didn't (as far as my friends 1 person has bought it mk vs dc out of 35 with 360's)

Maybe they can find a publisher who isn't scared of age classifications or making money. Obviously publishers need to stop giving so much merit to *****y people who don't even play the games to begin with. Over-regulation is killing the industry and anyone who doesn't see it needs to open their eyes.

» MKII ftw!

Give me MKII with HD graphics!

by Navani - 2009-06-21 05:04
» Well

According to GameSpot it sold 1.8 million units, which isn't bad. So they should be pleased. And I know a few people who bought the game. I think they said it was a hook to try and get out of financial problems or whatever..

Anyway, I hope they make it so bloody that the ESRB refuses to rate the game, and then they can work backwards from there.. Just to make up for the lack of blood in MK vs DC!

» Not interested

I never really liked MK because the gameplay just never stood up against fighters like SF, DOA and Tekken and the fact they making a big deal out of more blood shows that won't change... Style over substance i say.

» im rooting

Chicago based and forever embellished with the success of Mortal Kombat, I'm pulling for the home team! come on' Midway, don't ***** foot around anymore, get on the ball and make it right!!! You can do it!!

» The last good MK

I don't know, maybe Mortal Kombat Trilogy, or the one I prefer more, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

Starting at MK4 the series got progressively *****tier. The series is just total ass and Ed Boon and John Tobias know it. They know that all they're doing is releasing a piece of garbage that takes them literally no time to create, they throw it together, and so many dumbass MK fans are still buying the hell out of the series because they keep believing all their lies and that the next game in the series is going to redeem itself(in which it doesn't and guarantee it never will.)

» MK

Man all these MK games suck. MK:Armageddon was ridiculous wit the create a fatality. And MK vs. DC Universe didn't even feel like MK with all the gore removed. I think Deception had to be the best besides Ultimate and 4. I also think they need to create a better storyline

» mk legend

hey we need a HD 2d 3d gfx with old mk atmospher and ambiance , sounds far camera lot of bloods , and pls midway dont bring back your nasty muscled characters with stupid animation , even MK3 animation is beter than all you mk 3d ,

SO remember :

1 : HD 3D graohics with 2d camera

2 : Classic far mk camera , maybe go close while combo

3 : bring back old characters models , we dont need to see muscles

4 : realistic texture and human faces even blured but have to be hyper realistic

5 : realistic boold flow and marks using 3d engine will be a plus and advantage

6 : MK3 MK2 and MK1 ambiance and SFX

7 : hard combos

i think only this could revive this legendary game killed by devs and their stupid ideas .

Just the Street Fighter way ~ 2D in 3D background and feel. That's what I've been saying for quite some time now. MKII and MK Ultimate were great - And now they can build that Animality into great gfx, and of course the fatalities. Expand the number of fatalities/animalities/friendships/ per character instead of packing the resource on 3D graphics - Polygons take a bit hit a processing and time consuming designs - Bring the old classic with vivid images and new HD graphics. I prefer MK over Tekken any day - I'm not a fan of Tekken and never was. Give me SF,MK,MvsSF and how can we forget about Killer Instinct. KI just died they should bring it back as well.

» ok

all what u said is right but why you compare MK to tekken , MK is 4 direction game while is 8 direction game , tekken can be compared to soul calibur for ex , and MK should stay in 2d feels , sure with the 3D combos and fatalities will be more realistic but 3D should stay hiden like in KOF 12 production HD 2d gfx rendered with 3d , hope midway think about this if they want to pay their due .
