The Ys (rhymes with "tease") series will be getting a couple of new entries this year. The announcement was made by Nihon Falcom at a recent fan event held in Tokyo. Here's pic of a flyer handed out during the event:

According to IGN, the new titles will be Ys 7 and Ys I&II Chronicles. Dengeki Online revealed that Adol will once again be in the lead role in Ys 7, which will tell the story of the Five Great Dragons of Altago. Dengeki PlayStation is reportedly doing a feature on Ys 7 for an upcoming issue, which points to a possible PSP or PS3 release.

On the other hand, no details at all were made clear about Ys I&II Chronicles, but the title is simple enough to suggest a remake of the first two Ys games. They've been remade for quite a few times now, so what's another remake, right?

Chronicles could also be a bundled version of the Ys Book I and II remakes that were released separately in Japan last year, kinda like a Japanese version of the Legacy of Ys: Books I & II compilation Atlus released last month in the US.

Ys 7 has been set for a Fall 2009 release date in Japan, with Ys I&II Chronicles scheduled for an earlier Summer 2009 launch. An international release for both games is also still unconfirmed at this point. All I know is that I hope one of these games turn out to be good so I they can get the bad taste Ark of Napishtim left out of my mouth.

Didn't this basically just come out for the DS?
