TA-85 v2 - Image 1

According to PSP-Italia, homebrew and custom firmware developer Dark AleX has discovered a new type of PSP Slim and Lite motherboard called the TA-85 v2 (pictured above) which prevents users from creating Pandora batteries.

According to the reports, this type of motherboard prevents the creation of Pandora batteries by inhibiting access to eeprom battery. While the unit cannot create new batteries, it can still run batteries which have already been placed in "service mode."

At the moment, there are no
existing methods that PSP owners can use to get around this security measure. We'll be keeping a close eye on this issue so be sure to keep checking back here for more updates.

» Thats not true

That's no excuse.

» >>

Dark-Alex probably never said he found it first, QJ is known for mis-understanding things or mis-quoting, either that or it was their source that got it wrong.

by UncertainGod - 2008-01-30 07:34
» Typical

QJ gets it wrong again.

by billylee8 - 2008-01-30 07:38
» So uh...

It's still easier to make a Pandora Battery on a Phat, right? Just another reason I'm glad I kept one!

by Lazyboy256 - 2008-01-30 08:30
» Stinks for Slim users but...

I'm pretty confident that the PSP homebrew coders can find a way around (if they ever need to, seeing as one can do research to avoid getting a Slim with the new MoBo) to getting access to the eeprom, so these new Slims can create homebew-lovin' batteries.

Though I like to stay Phat :)

» lol old news

I posted this 2 days ago at http://www.mypsp.com.au/Post.aspx?id=9333&p=1 and I got it from this site 3 days ago but wasn't sure if it was genuine http://psp.console-tribe.com/news/4-1-55551/nuova-schede-madri-ta-085-v2-non-permettono-di-creare-batterie-pandora.html it's italian but there is a quote from Dark Alex announcing it.

» lol

oh no how will new users ever get a hold of another phat psp?

by bloody0986 - 2008-01-30 09:05
» Anyway to know what motherboard you have on the Slim/Lite

How will I know what motherboard I have. It doesn't really matter though. I have 2 slims and phats (NORMAL) PSPs.

by Chewieshmoo - 2008-01-30 09:54
» Too bad........

Well, that's fine, it just prevents MAKING the battery right? As long as it doesn't prevent USING it as I

already have the DATEL version (yeah I know) which

I've used on my 2 phats but I am keeping in case I get a slim in the future...............

by SCLakitu - 2008-01-30 10:10
» _03g?

So is this the _03g revision that was referenced in 3.80+? Or is this something entirely different? If it is, then I'm not surprised that this is what it really was, just a Pandora block.

by Eclipze_ - 2008-01-30 11:06
» Can someone

Explain like exactly how to do the pandora battery or give me a link or somthing??

by Binary - 2008-01-30 11:10
» QJ

You should correct that.

Dumb***

by Binary - 2008-01-30 11:12
» exactly

this what happen when QJ hires a noob that does not know what he's talking about.

by PS2GT - 2008-01-30 11:46
» lol...theres no other method?

lol theres no other method? for what, making a pandora battery? um yes there is, all u need is a spare battery(1800 or 2200,not the new ones), a knife(like the ones for arts and crafts), a brain and knowing what chip to modify and a tweezers or finger nail clipper. the chip is named ic04 and it has 4 pins and u must remove the 4th pin( its positioned and placed differently on both batteries) and once thats done your battery is a permanent pandora battery. btw u need some tape to reseal the batteries casing. thats it, a different method.

by Naroon Kasui - 2008-01-30 12:06
» hmm

Firstly, don't call QJ noobs for a misunderstandin g.

2nd, I'm on a SLIM and can still use my Pandora on any PSP including new ones just like stated above. So if you already have a PSP Phat/Slim, just create new batteries with that, or just get one of those Datel batteries or whatever and do it that way.

3rd, Just wait and see the scene find a new way to get around this issue. We've gotten around pretty much everything else, so hey.

by Binary - 2008-01-30 12:28
» PS

Since when Dark_aleX made homebrew? he just does custom firmware that allow us to have homebrew, not create it.

by akadewboy - 2008-01-30 14:43
» Yes

Use this to find out your motherboard:

http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t+98121

by boyanmetal - 2008-01-30 14:45
» Uh?

Someone out there will get the way around on this. Nothing is hacking proof in these electronic/ software area. Just wait for it.

by PSPMAN90 - 2008-01-30 15:13
» Well QJ Publishers are humans and they sometimes...

Have errors like us, or they just want to get all the attention... Well the sure thing is that Dark Alex make stuff not for his own glory, just for all the Ppl who has PSP and the community. So probably This QJ net Publisher , is wrong or misunderstood... So let it past everybody knows that he wasn't (DA) the first one who discovered. So anyway what's the big Idea, big deal that no can do Pandora's Battery with A Slim, c'mon I never used a PSP slim to create a pandora Battery, so theres no panic... We can always use the PSP Phat for that, thats actually that everybody use tradicionally...

So if sony hinks they are making an opposition or an obstacle perhaps, they should go way far from this! I mean I'm saying "NOBODY USE QA PSP SLIM TO MAKE AN PANDORA's BATTERYwell may be some newbe's but is not necessary.

Well like always SONY is a one step down from the Homebrew Scene!

CHEERS!

» NOT

This was not "discovered" by DAX, to say the least.

Its not like he buy's a new PSP everyday. Or atleast he doesnt need to anymore.... :S

Many people on various forums have noticed this on their new PSPs. I specifically remember Cory1492 diagnosing someones PSP with this a week ago on maxconsole.

by Wicked_Insider - 2008-01-30 23:34
» Wait a minute

"Firstly, don't call QJ noobs"

1. "firstly" is not a word, it's "first of all..."

or "first off..."

2. Only I have the rights to calling QJ a noob.

I have those rights patented.

3. If you or anybody calls QJ a noob I can

and will sue.

4. QJ's a noob!

you.

by cenobyte - 2008-01-31 00:12
» my point exactly

as long as you can still use a pandora battery I don't think there's any reason to panic. Lotta pandora battery's out there, check with friends or if you're lazy check ebay for pandora batteries incl. magic memory stick at very reasonable prices.

by FreePlay - 2008-01-31 00:27
» Except, enrico...

That it was, as far as I can tell, first encountered on Maxconsole. At least, that's where developers like SilverSpring, jas0nuk, cory1492, and the like all seem to have first taken an interest in confirming that it was indeed a new motherboard.

by FreePlay - 2008-01-31 00:29
» No....

This is not the _03g. This is still _02g.

by xCHRISx - 2008-01-31 00:55
» hmm

not a big deal lol

i wonder which slims are with these motherboards, the daxter bundle perhaps?

by sickofitall - 2008-01-31 04:21
» the link to this,

is there on the right of your screen under "featured content". It tells you how to make one using the phat psp.

by ultimax - 2008-01-31 04:56
» Actually

Custom Firmware IS homebrew. Well, partly.
