PSP world in your hands - Image 1

Following the sarcasm and wit (not to mention, annoyance, to a degree) of those "Dude, get your own" adverts, this comes as a breather. Sony's rolling out a new PSP advertising campaign - and it goes a little something like this:

Catchy, yes? It's fun and light-hearted - and for some reason, I feel like having a Big Mac.

As implied by the ad, Sony's new campaign for the PSP goes by the title: "Your Whole World in Your Hands". As such, it's got the whole "Your games, Your music, Your movie, etc etc" thing going on, thus carrying the entire "PSP isn't just a games device" motto.

» Better

Certainly an improvement over anything I've seen PSP wise before (except the Crisis Core/GoW ads).

Makes me think that Sony have been holding ack until they could create an uncrackable PSP ^_^

im glad to see that they are not giving up on the psp. i know they wont until a few years down the road. but the more people know about it, the more people will get one. that commercial doesnt make me want to get a psp even though i already have one. i say the best commercials they had were the darth vader bundle pack with that guy breathing all over the player. another is with those black and white animated commercials. "its like cheese that you can listen to outside". funny stuff. next they got to advertise on how to downgrade.

» Not bad

I still chuckle when I think about the Darth Vader commercial where the guy was breathing over everyone's shoulders.

I couldn't stand the whole squirrel cheese thing. It makes me nauseous just thinking about those commercials.

» I'm gonna forego saying, "too little, too late"

And, just say that this ad and this type of marketing should have present 2 years ago.

The timing THEN would have been perfect for this particular ad. Now, with the prominence of the Ipod, which has a better form factor and now the ability to play games and the DSi on the horizon, do we really even care at this point?

You wait until all of your competitors have caught up with your hardware and have usurped your strongpoints, then you finally decide to do a proper product placement. Brilliant! *sarcasm*

Good luck with that Sony.

» Whole world in your hands...

unless you're in America... where you don't get the PSPCamera, GPS, GoView, Go Messenger and countless other things they showed in the ad.... apparently the U.S. has 3/4 of the world in their hands....

» true.

good stuff there. i forgot to mention that in my comment. fraid i mighta ran outta room. i just dont understand why we dont have that stuff.

does anybody know if that 1seg tuner from japan will work with the Feb09 switch?

by 73N5H1 - 2008-11-13 11:26
» ...

1 seg won't work... Feb09 is just all of the broadcasting companies switching to a digital signal. Japan can use 1 seg because they have an array of satellites specifically for broadcasting to mobile devices. The US doesn't have anything comparable and it would cost a lot to implement. In that cast at least... Sony was just capitalizing on a network that was already in place in Japan.

That still doesn't explain why they haven't realeased all of the other things here in the US. Go! Messenger wasn't released here because Sony signed an exclusive contract allowing them only to release it in Great Britain.

Not to say that you can't access most of these missing options with CFW and you can import things like the Chotto Shotto and talkman mic... but the point is, you shouldn't have to. Sony hasn't released the Go!Cam here because they didn't think it would sell with the abundance of cameraphones with higher resolutions in the US... my question is, why not make a PSP Cam with a higher resolution then?

It just always seems like the US is always playing 2nd with Sony... which doesn't make me feel like a very happy customer.

» Please not in NA

I like the advertisement overall, but since the GPS (last I checked) hasn't come to NA and the camera is no longer planned to come I would prefer that advertisement not come here either.

That, or it gets edited to remove the accessories. It really does make me feel like I need to start importing systems regularly and games instead of playing games from my own region.

Now this is heaps better than any of their recent ad campaigns. Well done Sony.

by doubleA - 2008-11-13 14:26
» yeah, seriously.

I also agree with all this. "PSP isn't just a games device". Not for us in North America, because games is all were gonna get. If they do air it in North America (which sony may be stupid enough to do) with what we got, It`ll end up to be a 15 sec. useless ad and make us feel pathetic from the fact the rest of the world gets cool stuff and were left with nothing.
