National Banhammer - German Ministers propose total ban for violent games |

In an effort to make their nation violent videogame-free, 16 German
Interior Ministers have moved to ask the Bundestag (the equivalent of
parliament in Germany) for a total ban on violent video games.If approved, this won't be just your average banhammer - this is a national banhammer that even goes as far as prohibiting violent game development in the country.
The ministers are planning to get this over and done with before the German elections on September 27th. With the school shootings, like the one in Winnenden back in March, and other acts of violence linked to the playing of violent video games, this bill may have a better chance of success than the one in California and Jack Thompson's attempt in Utah and his letter to Obama.
If indeed this national banhammer is successfully whipped out, gamers would not only say goodbye to their daily dose of gaming brutality. German game developers such as Crytek will have to outsource or even relocate operations to another country, because under this law, even the development of violent games will be banninated.

Well, let's see if they do the same for movies, tv shows, magazines, comics and all other media.... which I doubt!
Even if they ban all violent games all together people will still find ways to import games from other country's.

last i checked germany wanted to follow a different path after hitler(west) and more so after unification but its more apparent they arent, just look at some of the laws they have more importantly pertaining to the autobahn. whats next violent or bad lyrics that is like no more rammstien. germany is a great place but come on now, videogames and other media used as scapegoats needs to stop everywhere.

Games on the Wii, any sports game except for boxing and Guitar Hero, that's all I could come up with. Well Spore, Sims, Sim City, any flight simulator that doesn't involve a war.
They might as well ban the internet because there are most definitely violent flash games that anybody can access, even flash games that simulate shooting up a school.

Maybe you can get jail time or fined for drawing a picture of something violent. Also whatever you do, don't take a picture of an animal killing another animal for food. That would be uber realistic. Next step, ban any words that suggest violence, such as hit, mame, stomp, kill, murder, blood, smash.....
