National Banhammer - German Ministers propose total ban for violent games |
Listed in: Tags: Crytek, Germany, Jack Thompson
Ó
In an effort to make their nation violent videogame-free, 16 German
Interior Ministers have moved to ask the Bundestag (the equivalent of
parliament in Germany) for a total ban on violent video games. If approved, this won't be just your average banhammer - this is a national banhammer that even goes as far as prohibiting violent game development in the country.
The ministers are planning to get this over and done with before the German elections on September 27th. With the school shootings, like the one in Winnenden back in March, and other acts of violence linked to the playing of violent video games, this bill may have a better chance of success than the one in California and Jack Thompson's attempt in Utah and his letter to Obama.
If indeed this national banhammer is successfully whipped out, gamers would not only say goodbye to their daily dose of gaming brutality. German game developers such as Crytek will have to outsource or even relocate operations to another country, because under this law, even the development of violent games will be banninated.
More moves against violent video games:
- Bavarian Interior Minister says violent video games on same level as child porn and illegal drugs
- New Zealand has its own Jack Thompson, wants parents prosecuted for buying restricted games for their underage kids

That's what religion is basically.
Anyways, I hope this bill passes, just to give everyone a good example of what it would look like. And if it does, I bet it won't last very long.

so, when a few conservative *****bags TRY (I'm sure they won't succeed) to ban those games, the whole country is racist? is that how it works in your black and white / good and evil world? i pity you and your kind... and i pity QJ, where comments like these seem to be OK...

And freedom of speech isnt just an american thing.
America was the place that was effectively going to ban gta sa because of a sex mini game and only didnt because a new version was released.

SHUT THE F*CK UP!!!!!!!
You have no idea what's going on in Germany, you frigging pricks.
And now to the news:
This will never come through, we had these discussions several times, back then when the thing in Erfurt happened. It was the same situation.
And even if it comes through, this will just open a WHOLE new market for importers. And it's actually good that they try to bring this through. These idiots just lost a whole generation of voters.

Truly under knowledged, the Iraqis did not plot or plan 9/11, it was Osama Bin Laden and his merry band of Islamists, Al-Qaeda.
Bush attacked Iraq to finish his fathers work, and because it has oil, don't let any government try to tell you what was what until you have read the whole story.

They might as well ban the internet because there are most definitely violent flash games that anybody can access, even flash games that simulate shooting up a school.

Now to the Topic: If they really want to do this they lose thousands of voters in Germany. I personally see this as violation of the constitution. Since we get restricted in our freedom to do "whatever we want as long as we don't hurt anybody elses rights"
PS: WHAT THE F*** HAS THIS TO DO WITH HITLER???

but what you said had nothing to do with the point I made about christians slaughtering the mormons... wich you are saying is okay from your response.
I am not trying to knock christianity I was just trying to show him there is no innocent faction of faith.
all of them were brought to light through hardships and bloodshed
so if you can actually understand this and not go into a tangent that had nothing to do witth my point... please do the world a favor and shut up and take note I wasnt trying to knock those who believe in god....
cause I too am christian ... but I know that no one is innocent... hell it even says that in the king james bible....
