Myst ships! :D

We don't post about it often, but you guys do seem to love your Myst. Luckily for folks in most PAL territories, you'll have the chance to relive one of the definitive adventure experiences on your handhelds.

Cyan Worlds and Midway Games had teamed up to deliver a port of the solitary adventurer's journey that had fans clamoring for sequels. Today, Midway announced that shipping had begun for copies of the PSP version of Myst. While they've said that this shipping is for PAL territories, gamers in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa will have to wait a little longer to get their game on.

Now, for those folks out there who've mentioned something about the graphics, don't feel so down. Some of you mentioned earlier that the graphics were a lot like some of the first pre-rendered PC games. In fact, that's because this is one of the first pre-rendered games. While there are probably some graphical tweaks, the main reason you fell in love with the game was that it presented an adventure that carried itself with dignity and intriguing gameplay mechanics, and the impressive bearing you saw of the game in its original outing will certainly remain intact here.

Who here is looking to get the sequels out onto the PSP? If you're like us, then we're definitely hoping that they do make ports of the other games in the series. If you want to move the process along, someone start the online petition so we can sign up already, alright? Enjoy!

Old

lol...Already beat it. And anyone who knows anything about gaming should know Myst. It would be like a baseball player not knowing what a baseball is.

wtf

Myst is pretty much what started computer gaming how it is today. It's spawned 4 novels after it and 5 more games. do a Wiki on it if your clueless. Anyway, i'm glad to see it coming out for the PSP, especially considering it wont even install on newer computers it's gonna be nice to play through that again. anyone up for a PSP Riven? lol.

You people...

Before you go insulting a game you've never heard of, look it up... I mean, that's like saying "Half-Life! What do you do, match radioactive decay rates to their transuranic elements? Sounds like something nerds who like greek symbols would play!". Jesus Christ, if you don't have something that wont offend people and/or imply that your IQ is equal to that of a pickle, then GTFO!

yup

had this game for awhile now..jus in case your wondering the PSP version is the original Myst. No change at all..same graphics..same puzzles...same everything. WHERE MY GAYS AT?

RealMyst

Admit it. RealMyst is made of win... The original Myst all sexied up with dynamic 3d backgrounds. That's right! The original Myst was recreated as a non-pre-rendered version! I hope this is what we'll see on the PSP!

Novels

The novels, contrary to my first thoughts, are really good. I liked the first one the best. You get to learn everything up to the beginning of game one!

Here we go again.

I played Myst. Several times, in fact. This is the worst port of it ever. They didn't even use the higher-res/color renders from Myst Masterpiece Edition! It's still the old 256-color renders from the original, and looks like crap on the PSP screen. I would have LOVED a Myst 3: Exile-style remake of the game, but no. I'll wait for Exile to be released on the PSP (It's made it ot PS2 and Xbox already), before I dive into a portable Myst game... that one I'd definitely buy if it remained faithful.

why?

ok, so they took (out-dated) graphics and re-released a game which was great in its day, but now just looks old. And the excuse about 'it's not about the graphics' - well, if you've finished myst once you've finished it, really. since it's all about puzzles it doesn't have much replayability... i thought it was going to be different? no. it's just another re-hash of a game on the psp designed to make a quick buck. thank heavens we've got homebrew making this console something worth owning...

Realmyst

They should have ported realmyst insted.

Don't

If you've no idea what Myst is about, don't bother. It's an adventure game (as in you point and click things to move around and interact). I personally like these games, but few others share this sentiment (especially among the younger generations)

...

Wow, wishing somebody going to prison just cause he downloaded a game that nobody's gonna buy? That's like wishing he went to prison for downloading Scarface for the PSP!
by Neo_Rena - 2006-10-19 14:34:49
Well....

While playing it, I noticed the save said "Myst - Original" So maybe... realmyst is unlocked after beating it? Dunno, thought it was weird they'd say what type of Myst it was in the savegame...

Moron

So you admit that you know nothing about Myst. What makes you think anyone is interested in hearing your opinion of something you admit you know absolutely nothing about?
