Myst - Info and Screens |
Ó

Midway Games Ltd., recently announced a European publishing agreement for Myst on PSP, the latest version of the epic adventure from Cyan Worlds. Over a decade since PC adventurers first sampled the delights of the Myst gaming experience.
There are no instructions and the player begins a voyage of exploration without encountering a single living soul. Alone on a mysterious island, you set out to explore its grandeur and mystery. Here a chilling tale of intrigue and injustice, defying all boundaries of space and time, is being told. Quickly, though, it becomes clear every action can somehow help unfortunate individuals trapped somewhere in a parallel dimension. More details about the game and release information will be made available shortly.
Martin Spiess, Managing Director - Europe of Midway Games Limited, offered, “we’re thrilled to be bringing one of the best known and most successful game franchises to this handheld format for the first time. Myst promises a one-of-a-kind adventure experience and contribute to the broadening of our PSP portfolio.”
Manny J. Granillo, President & Chief Designer of Hoplite Research, LLC, stated, "finding the right partner with the right vision and who is in touch with what gamers want is always a challenge. We are delighted that we can work with such a strong publisher as Midway."
There has been no announcement on when the game will be out, but for now, go ahead and take a look at some of the game's screenshots.

Okay, anyone mind to tell me what is so amazing about Myst? Never heard or played it..if it was a game before..Does look amazing though ^^
najs graphics
This game is certainly not like any other average RPG/Racer/Sport game or any other genre for that matter.
Myst on PC was amazing. Back then it looked fantastic, but it was the smart puzzles and gameplay that made the game unique!
This game probably wont appeal to the GTA crowd.
But intellects among us will certainly appreciate this new installment .
Nice move, Midway. I will certainly purchase this one.
It's was a great game, and if you never played it, it's definitely worth picking up if you're into puzzlers. I question whether or not it's really a good game for a mobile platform though.
One thing to keep in mind about the graphics: unless they've gone full-3D (which I think they did later in the series) the graphics are just pre-rendered screens. You interface with the puzzles on the screen with a mouse-interface, and the screen doesn't rotate or move or anything (though elements in the screen do change). To put it another way, Myst is more like a turn-based game than an action game. It moves very slowly, but it is very engrossing.
I remember when I got this game way back when, a friend and I literally spent an entire weekend solving the game together, stopping only for meals.
"Oh Yeah Sure Myst Is Pretty but EGAD is it Dull!"
I finished Myst: Exile and enjoyed it like I never enjoyed a good quest game!
If you like thinking games, you should try out this one!
I just wonder if they will keep the game elements from previous Myst titles.
Oh the memories of Myst 1 on Sega Saturn...
Odd that they'd use Myst as a base instead of RealMyst. They made RealMyst a few years later, and it's full 3D where you can walk around and such, but I think it had an option for point-and-click too...
It was revolutionary for it's time. The 3D graphics, though static, were about the best out there. Agreed that many will fall asleep during the game, but give it an hour and you won't put it down.
If you played it when you were 16, then there is a whole next generation of (then) 6-year-olds who haven't played or even seen it yet.
Would like to see Riven brought forth as well. Never finished that one. The 4 CD's it came on were a ***** to swap out.
Again... This is a puzzle/thinking game. You don't get to kill anyone. (That should eliminate 50% of this audience.)
Yeah when i got this game when i was like 9 or 10 i hardly got past the first part lol its such a cool came though.
Myst was one of the first games I ever saw released on CDROM. It was right next to 7th Guest on the shelf. Can anyone think of an older game that was released on CDROM as it's first run?
oh and this was brilliant:
6. » From Monkey Island 3...
"Oh Yeah Sure Myst Is Pretty but EGAD is it Dull!"
HAHA
And there we have it :)
"At the time, this game was one of the reasons why many people would purchase a computer with a CD-ROM drive included and in fact, this game and The 7th Guest were both responsible for the sudden boom in the popularity of the drives."
where would i be able to sample this game? it said some people have sampled it for the pc
I loved Myst back on my 33mhz 486 Packard Bell (Remember those pieces of crap).
I could never get passed the Spaceship though (as I'm not good with music).
Its not needed to beat the game though.
the scenery looks beautiful!
Myst was the first game that required CD-ROM, and it used most of the space available to it. The grpahics and scenery were unfathomable at the time, with amazing puzzles to. RealMyst was the same, except with moving scenery (animals/trees etc.)
Riven (Myst II) came several years later, can on 5 CD-ROMS and had FMV built into the scenery and gameplay (those cable-cart scenes blew me away).
Since then there has been Myst 3 and 4, pretty much the same thing as Riven. Plus there was Uru, a MMOG that was also full 3D, unfortunately it failed.
Myst has been the most engrossing series I've ever played. I might temporarily get my hands on a PSP just for this!
Wow, the graphics look very...
1995.
Diddn't it sound like the intro to Enter Sandman,or am I still trippin ;)
