More PSP Greatest Hits Games |
Ó
In a press release, Sony revealed the second wave of Greatest Hits games that will hit the PSP later this year. The first wave will launch tomorow, as reported earlier. Ace Escape: On the Loose, ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee, Twisted Metal: Head On and Wipeout Pure make up the first wave. Many people were disappointed that some popular titles like Lumines wouldn't be making the cut. Well, Sony has fixed that! The second wave games are as follows:- Lumines
- Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition
- Star Wars Battlefront II
- Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix
- Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade
Along with the press release came the information that "With more than 5 million units sold, the PSP system remains North AmericaÂ’s top-selling next-generation handheld in the period since its record-setting launch in March 2005." I'm just noting this because it's the most creative marketing spin I've ever seen in a press release. In one sentence, Sony has added enough restrictions to give the idea that PSP is the dominant handheld in the continent! I know some of you are thinking "Shipped vs Sold?" but that's not the case. Sony has sold 5 million since its launch in March. However, that's the thing! "Period since [sic] March 2005" means that November 2004 - April 2005, in which the DS sold 1,651,786 units, is not counted. Also, they say "next-generation handheld" to exclude the GBA which has surprisingly outsold the DS and PSP since March! Again, very creative people in marketing. They deserve a raise or something!

awesome we can always use more budget titles!!!
second...... cool lumenes
This may also help less piracy.
watch out those marketing guys are TRICKY.
Will firmware upgrades be on these titles?
I'm sure they're going to make you "upgrade" the firmware to at least 2.6, probably 2.71 since it's a re-release. If I didn't already have 7 games, I might pick one up. When they start requiring 2.7, 2.71, or 2.8, I will stop buying games because there's no turning back!
"When they start requiring 2.7, 2.71, or 2.8, I will stop buying games because there's no turning back!"
That's the same thing people said at 1.5, 2.0, 2.01, 2.5, and 2.6.
How the hell is Untold Legends worth releasing a first time, let alone a second?!
I got Lumines for $19.99 brand new at an ebgames store about a month ago, it wasn't a greates hits either.
BTW: ive been trying to find out if Tekken is a force upgrade, I wanna buy it but don't want to leave my 2.6.
Can some one help me out?
nocomment
I got Lumines at Blockbuster for $19.99 too. They must be trying to hook people before the next release.
Just DG to 1.5 buy tekken, and you can LEGALLY play it throught devhook without updatting
I don't want to downgrade till it has compleat emulation for 2.71 or at least 2.6. I think it's missing a few things if i remember correctly.
is it 19/ title or is it a package
w/ 5 games for 19?
I wish it was 5 for $19

And I did stop buying PSP games between the time they began requiring firmware 2.0+ and when loaders got released to run them from the UMDs.
Definitely hurts sales.
Any word on whether or not this version of MC:3 Dub will have reduced load times like the European version does?
i played the tekken umd on my 1.5, i used devhook .45 to emulate 2.71 and it worked perfect :)
thanks for posting but what im asking is if it will work on 2.6 no mods
I saw star wars battlefront at target today.
WT*? Why isn't Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on that list?
Im sure they are gonna wait for the next GTA to come out first.
nevermind, tekken doesn't force me to upgrade from 2.6.
Uh, news flash, all those games except Dub Edition are already 20 dollars brand new everywhere....Who cares if they dont have the red thing on them.
