More Patapon 2 details: multiplayer for up to four players in the bag |
Ó
Good things are definitely coming our way from Sony Computer Entertainment. As we all know, we're going to get sequels for the two highly-acclaimed PSP games: LocoRoco and Patapon. We have already reported on some of the new features that will make it into LocoRoco 2, but what about Patapon 2? Here's good news: multiplayer is confirmed for Patapon 2.
Multiplayer for a Patapon game? Why didn't the developers think of it in the first place? Hiroyuki Kotani, designer for Patapon, revealed that they decided that enabling multiplayer on the first game would probably overwhelm players due to the sheer number of the Patapons that they can control. "You wouldn't have any idea which fighters were under your control," said Kotani.
That problem is well taken care of in Patapon 2, however, with the introduction of the Hero Patapon. The Hero Patapons are the main unit in a player's Patapon army, which can use the special items that can be earned during multiplayer.
Speaking of multiplayer, here's how that game element comes in: in every single-player sortie, players may encounter giant eggs, which hold special items or even smaller eggs. To crack them open, players would have to get the help of three other people playing the game in order to push the egg forward while at the same time defending it from threats. Once the egg is placed in the egg-hatching altar, all four players will have to perform the hatching ceremony in perfect rhythm.
Of course, a new game means a new roster of enemies and bosses as well. Adds Kotani:
We've got about double the amount of content to explore, just in terms of the number of stages alone. Add the customization options to that, and to be honest, you may never get to fully explore every bit of it.
Are you excited? We know you are. Stay tuned for more of Patapon 2 goodness!

I am SOOO reviewing this again when this comes out. :D
and I love Patapon.. Unless this is an online multiplayer, I don't see it being any good... would all 4 players be wearing headphones? or would they have to play in quiet rooms? and do these developers just think that everyone I know is into playing Patapon? I'd be lucky if I ever met ONE person who heard of that game let alone played it enough to bring it over to my house with 2 other friends and have a 4 player infrastructure festival. what a crappy idea.. they should have just let it be one on one battle... as if players couldnt determine who's who. Pick a color dammit, whats so hard about color coding the armies? dunno.
At least the devs are making multiplayer available in some form.
I know how you feel, I don't know anyone else who plays the game either. But you'll probably be able to use CWcheat to get those special items.
LMAO patapon with mics would be so weird. It'd kind of be like WoW ('I'm gonna tank this boss with my tatapon, you support with your Yuripon) Anyways, cwcheat and nitepr are totally gonna ruin multiplayer.
I've been menaing to ask this for a while now... but WTF is up with Patapon? Seriously, I don't get it.
