More details on Star Wars: Force Unleashed - gameplay, plot, etc. |
Ó

Jay of TheForce.Net gives us the lowdown on the details revealed in a Game Informer feature regarding details surrounding LucasArts' upcoming Star Wars: Force Unleashed.
First off, the various platforms the game is made for and who will be responsible for each version. You guys already probably know a lot about the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, so we'll skip to the rest.
Krome Studios will be responsible for the PSP and PS2 version of the game, while n-Space will be handling the DS version. As for the Wii, well, a version for Nty's console is not likely. And if there will be a Wii version, it won't be what fans expect. A LucasArts representative says, "Even if that version does happen, it probably wouldn't be "the lightsaber game" that gamers have eagerly been awaiting."

Next, the gameplay and the storyline. The report says that this is distinctly a single-player experience. There is, however, a multiplayer component to the game. The details surrounding that are lacking at the moment. As for the storyline, the report assures us that it would be faithful to canon material (despite the overpowered Force abilities) as George Lucas was consulted regarding the story of the game.
The two engines used in the game - Euphoria and Digital Molecular Matter - are reported to allow the game to react to players in a way that no other game has done before (*cough* HL2 *cough*). Euphoria is the name for the Artificial Intelligence engine that is used to have characters react and understand their environment, while DMM is a replacement for the need to have game designers animate environment reaction to player actions, like say breaking objects, energy on walls, etc.

Oh, here's some other plot tidbits: Shaak Ti did not die in Episode III. In fact, she serves as the antagonist of the player in this game (you're Vader's lapdog remember?). If you're an avid "Star Wars" buff then you'd probably recall the "Secrets of 07" image at StarWars.com, where you see Shaak Ti charging a red-lightsabered individual surrounded by Rancor Pit-Monsters. Well, that red-lightsabered fellow is you, and the Rancors are on Shaak-Ti's side, not yours. Ouch.
The game will feature new characters (Jedi General Kota, Maris Brood and her tonfa-esque lightsabers), new and established locations (Felucia, Raxus Prime, Haroon the crystal moon), and multiple endings. Developers also hint that you can switch to the Light side.

Oh, and if gameplay is all you're really concerned with when it comes to Star Wars games, the developers promise that the boss battles in this game will be good. For example, one of the ways to defeat one of the aforementioned Rancor pit monsters is to have it swallow you. Here's how the report describes it:
Once you are in its stomach, triggering a Force Repulse will send a shockwave through the hulking creatures body, tearing it apart from the inside.
Eww.

I just think this game is going to be awesome. I seen the tech demo of the physics on gametrailers.com and the old gametrailers months ago and can't wait to play this game. This is truly a next gen title and I hope other game developers take note and follow suit on what a next gen platform should give as far as detail.
Given that there are SO many versions of this game, is there any possibility of cross-console gameplay (if multiplayer exists)?
i wish it was a rpg,..
I think its gonna suck this game. Like all the others.
your both stupid queers.
From what I've heard, it sounds like this game will be rated M. FINALLY, a realistic Star Wars game!!!!
