The numbers are in for May and some unthinkable things have happened. What are they? See if you can guess by the numbers before I explain!PS2 - 231,616

Yes, you see that correctly. The PlayStation Portable outsold the Game Boy Advance. This has been the first time that either the PSP or DS outsold the GBA. Maybe America is starting to move on? Then again, maybe if they keep buying GBAs, Nintendo will get a clue and localize Mother 3. The numbers also show that there are 145,930 people who were too impatient to wait for a DS Lite, which launches on June 11th. After it launches, expect the DS to push ahead of both the PSP and GBA for a good little while. It's been shown in almost all the DS game commercials, including New Super Mario Bros. The GameCube beat the Xbox this month, but that's not saying much as both systems are essentially dead. The PS2 shows it has a lot of legs left by beating out the Xbox 360, which was actually in supply for the entire month of May. Like the PSX, the PS2 will likely outsell the PS3 this holiday season.

As you can see, even though the GBA and PSP outsold it, the DS still sold more software. The PS2 and Xbox 360 dominated the rest of the spots. Expect another burst of sales for New Super Mario Bros. when the DS Lite hits next month.Whether or not Brain Age has the same success it did in Japan remains to be seen. It's off to a better start than it was in Japan, but it received a marketing push and we don't have the books that Japan does so it might be different. Great to see games like Guitar Hero selling though.
For those wondering, Japanese Weekly Sales will now be posted monthly instead of weekly. Last week's top three consoles were the DS Lite (135,614), PSP (24,595), and PS2 (18,513). The best selling game was New Super Mario Bros. which sold 334,208 copies bringing it to a total of 1,233,726 in just two weeks while proving the Japanese do buy more than just Brain Training games.

Guys NPD isnt very good , it dosent have data from many big retailers like Walmart . This might be good as a survey but not as facts . I really wish US would adopt a similar statistics as Japan that have all the retailers and gets posted every week

it didnt pass the DS in sales total for US.. as of last month.. the DS was ahead by about 100,000. psp just caught up on about 10,000 on that.. which still means the DS is ahead by about 90,000 in the US.
expect junes sales to extend the DS lead by atleast 100,000 - 300,000
yeh funny how ps2 is still beating the 360 7 months on even when its supposedly the next-gen console. hahah 360 sucks.
psp is onley outselling ds because every ones waiting for dslite. im aculey suprised ds sold as much as it did seeing how ds lite is coming out. i was expecting half that much X-D and your right 360 dous suck.
The 360 doesn't suck, it's just too expensive to get the most out of it, unlike the PS2. The DS is gonna 'splode when the lite comes out. Nintendo may have lost some ground on the home console front, but it seems to still be dominating the portable market (at least in Japan).

Guys are you stupid or something ! , no one can claim that something outsold something else since these numbers dont cover most of the retailers in USA . These numbers might be 3 times as high since Walmarts isnt included for example were the majority buy their games .
Unless anyone can provide those numbers then shut up , we only gonna know the true numbers when each company announce them

Holy S**t. Following the link (http://www.the-magicbox.com/topten.htm), according to Lik-Sang, Xbox sold a purported 8 (eight) that's right 8!!! Xboxes during the week of May 22 - 28. Man. That's hilarious.
Nobody is going to buy a ds, when the lite comes out um TOMORROW!

That magicbox site says the Nintendo DS and the Xbox 360 have sold the EXACT SAME amount of units this year. This site can't be taken as fact.

This thread reaks of Sony fanboys. Yet again, saying the "360 sucks" and backing it up with the proclaimed, "cause PS2 is outselling it". I hope I don't have to explain to you why. It's kind of rhetorical...or yet, sadly, perhaps I do.

The reason the PS2 is outselling the 360 is because of the "price" factor. Its the cheaper ppl buying the console or they are replacing their "broken" PS2's. Just wait till this coming Winter. Ppl will buy the Wii instead of the PS3. Know why?? because of the same thing u are laughing at now..."the Price factor". So put your "I love SONY" underwear away. OK!??

No dik head, im not a faboy. Im a universal gamer. Sony won this month, who cares, dont b*tch. Is Japan where the DS is selling like hot bread. The lite might help it but I doubt it will help much. I am not saying the DS isn't good, it actually has a higher quality of games. Nonetheless it still get's outsold in the west.
In total numbers DS still wins though because it had a 4 month lead.
Hmm I wonder how the sales will be after the introduction of the PS3 and the wave of better games coming out during this holiday shopping season. I put money that it outsell the 360.

Look the DS has good games and features, but the psp also has a couple good games and lots of features. In my opinoin they are both good. PSP has internet, and lots of hombrew, DS has good games, psp has movies and music, ds has touch screen, for everything ds/psp has they each have somthing.
PSP sold more units, but didn't have the software to back it up.
