The success of Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G pretty much ensures the eventual release of another PSP entry in the franchise. During the Monster Hunter Festa finals, Capcom announced just that.

The new game doesn't look to be a full-fledged entry but will be a spin-off title called Monhan Nikki Poka Poka Airu Mura ("Monster Hunter Diary Poka Poka Airu Village") instead. Details have been scarce so far, but based on the title alone it seems the game will place a larger focus on the Felynes.

» Felynes!

I mean they are cute and all, but come on! Monster Hunter Tri for the PSP is where it's at not no Kitta Cat Hunter Spinoff thing...

Seriously Capcom shouldn't have any trouble making another MH game seeing as it's all the same except with the addition of more weapons and levels every sequel.

» i can dream

it would be great if -> monster hunter got upgraded with new areas and monsters and maybe just a little bit of story with they hunting.

OR. capcom port and upgrade Tri for the ps3 after its out a while. they would deff. make enough money.

» are you kidding...?

come on capcom, really? i'm sure there's a small grouping of MH fans who love the cats more than the game, but not nearly enough to make this game successful. this is the most retarded thing I've seen all day. let me guess, you get to choose to play as a black or white cat and get to steal and bomb and attack things with sticks and do every annoying thing they do in the actual series? lame. bad move. god forbid it's like a monster hunter harvest moon with cats, that'd be even worst. "Hey guys, do you love action, and giant weapons, and customizable armor, and huge monsters, and gathering materials? Well here's A VILLAGE SIM FOR YOU!!!" no thanks >_>

» This better be Japan only

We don't want it if it's gonna be like dat! Might as well keep it in japan where it's widely accepted.

I don't know Y capcom never put a storyline in a MH game, it's not that hard.

Warriors of a select few have been chosen to venture through and rid the land of ravenous monsters that terrorize the landscapes and villages of all of it's peoplel. Upon defeating those monsters, the warriors must salvage their remains and use them to create items, weapons, food and cultivate the land for the survival of human civilization.

Hows that??

» Set-up is not the same as a story.

That's the entire point of the game, not a story on its own.

MH3 will have a small storyline for offline mode, by the way.
