MHP2nd breathes Platinum fire - Image 1Barely a week after breaking the 750K mark in just two weeks since its Japanese release, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd hits and tops the platinum mark in shipments. With this feat, Capcom is awarded yet another platinum hit to stash under their belt, and the first platinum hit for the PSP handheld.

While there are no concrete figures coming from the company themselves, independent sales tracker Media Create had already pegged this particular Monster Hunter title at over 700,000 in its first week alone atop Japanese retail shelves. This is certainly proof, without a doubt, that the franchise is kicking strong on that side of the Pacific. Corollary to this, Capcom has also announced that the shipment figures for the first title of Monster Hunter Portable is also nearing the million shipped mark, too.

And with all the success coming their way, it won't be too farfetched for Capcom to go ahead with another one. Apparently, more Monster Hunters don't hurt in the least bit.

» First Platinum for the PSP?

Wait didn't Liberty City Stories hit 1 million first? Or is this the first platinum game in Japan?

» Hopefully

Hopefully these figures will encourage other game developing companies to start working on the PSP, although the game is yet to be released in the US/EU. Nice launch and reward on Capcom's part, I have yet to play part one.

yeah like how they neutered MHF with just adhoc... wtf unless i buy some wifimax BS and have my friends all buy it to play in a tunneled network, i have to sit in the same room with my friends just so i can play in a group?

one of the worst decisions you can make

mhf was fun but it gets kinda lonely hunting all by yourself, i'm one of those people who loses patience, if these games were meant to be played alone then why the hell do we have mmorpgs
