Monster Hunter Freedom Unite - Image 1

Usually, these shipping dates from retail stores have a "tentative" label attached to them, and without any official confirmation from the developer or publisher, we can't call it an absolute announcement just yet.

Nonetheless, here it is: Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will finally be hitting North America on August 4 according to Gamestop. Given MHP 2nd G's renowned success in Japan, this localized version will surely make waves once released to the waiting fans.

Now August 4 seems to be a bit of a stretch. As announced before, the game was scheduled for a Sping '09 release window for both US and Europe. Seeing it now with an August 4 tentative release indicates a delay, but again, without any word from Capcom, this remains unconfirmed.

» no point...

if there's no new content of the game, i'm sticking with japan's version monster hunter 2nd g.

» there *should be* new content...

A feature that allows world wide multiplayer by internet tunneling through PS3 remote play. Well, that is unless the abandoned that idea. Otherwise, no, there will likely be no new content.

» Seriously August!!!...

Man I stopped playing 2nd G because I thought that this game would be out earlier than that. At least Phantasy Star Portable is already out to keep me busy. But 4 months damn.

» Well, it IS still in Q2...

The game was scheduled for release in Q2, and August 4th is still in Q2...

And in regards to what ptspyder said about NOT having new content, I doubt that it WONT have different content from MHP2ndG.

MHPG was the Japanese counterpart to MHF2, right, and THEY had slightly different content from each other!

So who's to say MHFU and MHP2ndG wont have some new content from each other. I mean, I posted the article, so I am obviously an avid MH fan! I would try to find out as much about this stuff as possible!

As for me, I hope at least some new stuff is thrown in! I am such an optimist!

» STICK WITH 2nd G?!

WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU DO THIS?! (Sarcasm)

Only reason I'm getting Unite: I hate that darned O button instead of X.

I've bought so many unnecessary things because of it.

I'm going to be doing my Zenny-Taxes and have a section for, "Times I pressed O instead of X."

by ov3rkill - 2009-03-20 12:54
» hmmm...

@Achooist

lol. yeah. but if you're using a cfw you could just change the setting in the recovery menu from o to x or vice versa. no idea why sony didn't include that or decides to make x and o somehow different in regions. also, they could have just made a setting, an option for us just like in the cfw's recovery menu or they should include it in the ingame options. bah, whatever they decide right?

anyway, i just hoped there's new content perhaps more armors, equips, etc. OR they could just actually make more DLC just like in japan and i HOPE it's FREE. one more thing, i'm thinking if they would release some limited edition bundle package with psp or w/e cuz that would be freakin' awesome... again, just like in japan. haha

» Me Too

Yeah, I'll probably end up buying the UMD... but I'll rip the ISO from it so I can play without a disk... that UMD drive eats battery power...

» Half new content + half priced game

MHF Unite is nothing more than an extended version of MHF2. I don't pay the full price of the original for an add-on.

Bring this game to a platform that supports downloading content for a fee, like it's being done right now for Monster Hunter Frontier on the PC. The PS3 comes to mind, but even on the PSP it could be done. Wii on the other hand is pretty useless in that regard.

It's about time for the era of discs to come to an end, to be replaced by downloadable games and content. Less development costs, less delays, no shipping or shipping costs and better for the environment + much cheaper games. Until they find another way to nibble money from the consumer.

» Bah

I love mhf 2 but the only thing thats stopping me from buying this one is the simple fact that there is no infrastructure support. I dont know anybody that has or even would enjoy playing mhf2 with me on psp so i was kinda looking to infrastructure to find me a way to play my multiplayer orientated game with other people without having to go con somebody into buying it and playing it with me.

Ever heard of... XLink Kai? Yes, you can play any PSP game Online! :)

Or, if you have a PS3... ever heard of Ad-Hoc Party?

» I'll buy it, even with CFW

Just to show CAPCOM that the Occident likes this kind of game too! Even if we have CFW and can download it in any torrent site, I think we have to buy this game so CAPCOM can see we want a translation for the other games too (read MH Tri and MH Frontier)!!

Damn... I totally would pay to play MHF if we had it here.
