Monster Hunter Freedom 2

Just last week we got news that a big name PSP game, a sequel to a wildly popular franchise would be announced, speculation in the comments seemed to lean heavily to the idea that it would be either Gran Turismo Mobile, or the next Grand Theft Auto. I suppose it depends on just how much you love the Monster Hunter series, but you if you were expecting either of those games (I was rooting for Crisis Core myself) you might as well prepare to be somewhat disappointed.

The latest issue of Japanese gaming mag, Famitsu announces to the world the arrival of Monster Hunter Freedom 2, (or Monster Hunter Portable 2 in Japan) the first game was huge over there, selling by the truckload, and appears to have been relatively well received in the West as well. We understand that the new game will feature snow covered levels as well as new weapons and items (surely all these are to be expected). While we don't just yet have 100% confirmation, it also appears as though the new game will finally support an oft pined for infrastructure multiplayer mode that will allow gamers to finally go monster hunting with pals.

More news as we get it.

Any hardcore fan would know that this is exactly what they've been waiting for, but now they can take it everywhere. This based off of Monster Hunter 2 for the PS2. Don't believe? Go to Gamespot and look it up. I for one, am very excited.

The only thing that disapointed me of MHF was that it didnt have infrastructure. If MHF2 has it, i'm going to get this game as soon as it ships.

If you were expecting anything like GTA or another Syphon Filter then you are little slow. Famitsu is strictly a japanese mag and those games are not japanese. If it was GTA or Syphon or anything non-japanese it would be annouced via an american or european mag.

#7 is *****ing at the people asking for infastructure in MH2 who obvioulsly didnt know that the first one has it already. however you dont need xlink to use it, just go to the online town hall thing. its only for the treasure hunting missions though i think

Get your facts straight before trying to sound smart. "Online Hall" was Ad-hoc mode. Idiot.

Common sense. This "big news" originated from Famitsu, a Japanese publication. Of course they'll announce a big-name Japanese game and not some rehashed crap from the US.

MHF was a joke game, nothing but doing the same thing over 100,000,000,000, 000 time. How can people stand that game. Tried it and got bored within the first 20 minutes

Can any of you people read? A sequel will be announced. How can you count Gran Turismo Mobile or GTA:LCS as a sequel?

# Why do so many bash MH?Guest 2006-07-12 06:41
Honestly why are so many of you bashing the game, Just becuase its an rpg that has no levels? does that make it lame? no. Is it becuase it has no targeting system AND REQUIRES SKILL TO PLAY, i should hope not. The gamers of today are beign spoiled with the targetign systems of games and the auto aiming systems.

Play some Counterstrike and tell me how you aim there lol.

Monster hunter has held my interest longer then ALOT of games. On the PS2 i have logged 89 hours, and on the psp i have logged 140 hours. I'm just about to finish up my 4 star quests offline. The item creation system in my opinion is both easy to use and highly effective.

So yea, seriously stop knocking on a great game.

Take it easy --- No GS or SnS refrences here. Lets not confuse the poor ba$tards who have not play MHP yet. I picked it up and have not been able to put it down. Tekken - boared after 20 minutes - Fight Night - tired of playing it after 3 fights. Monster HUnter Portable is freeking hard! It does require skill but hey you get to mine, farm and fish - as well as slap around some cats. Try the game out then you will realize why a second game is great for the PSP. Monster HUnter 2 (dos) is doing very well on the PS2. Get it as well, I just hope you can read Japaneese! toodles

Well, I'm officially giving up hope on sony putting out anything worthy of spending money on game wise. I guess all my psp will be good for is the homebrewing scene. DS may seem like a crummy piece of hardware, but to me, it's had games more entertaining than the psp has. PSP has even had some iffy ideas about how to gain populatirty. Come on Sony, I bought this with high expectations and you are failing me. At least the homebrew is going strong.

The ONE chance Sony had to redeem themselves with a good PSP game, and instead of throwing something huge like Kingdom Hearts or FF, they give us the sequel to the crappiest PSP game. And I expect it to be MUCH crappier than the first.

Why are people so stupid? Gran Turismo for the PSP and Liberty City Stories have already been announced. Why would they get reannounced? Think, people.

Obviously Monster Hunter Portable was the obvious game, since it was the most popular PSP game in Japan (and pretty darn popular in the US, based on the gamefaqs forums).

this a port of Monster Hunter 2 for the ps2 and yes there are swords(like the one that Auron from FFX) that are very fast and there are also great bows, Lance cannon (like the lance of the first but it can also shoot). If you want to see any of these weapons you can go to youtube and search for monster hunter 2

iam a big fan of MH on ps2 and iv played over 200 hours on it. MH is definitely a one of a kind i was praying that MH2 would release on the ps2 in the U.S. but after nearly 3 months of looking for any news on that, it turned out that it isnt going to be released to the states. iv heard alot about MHF on psp and now iam hearing of MHF2! man this is gonna be worth picking up a psp just for this alone!

its the break for all of us that were hoping for an english MH2 to come out.
