Following in the wake of the resignation of former CEO, David Zucker, Midway Games has decided to trim the fat and cancel a number of licensed titles in favor of focusing on what they called their "core properties."

No word on exactly which games are getting axed but ones tied in with strong licenses like DC Comics and TNA Wrestling appear to be safe. Interim CEO Matt Booty specifically mentioned them when he described their fall lineup.

That said, Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) is likely still a go for November 16 (21 for Europe) but I should mention that Midway's not in the best shape right now and promised to evaluate any  "underperforming projects." There's always the possibility, I suppose, so keep your fingers crossed...

...or don't if you're one of those people who finds the idea appalling. I still have mixed feelings about the whole thing, myself.
