Michigan Violent Games Law Thrown Out

GavelThe Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has gained another victory in Michigan against a permanent injunction against the state's violent video games law. The main argument for the prosecutors were that the violent games are interactive so kids get to participate in the violence instead of just watching it as they would on TV or a movie.

The defense used the argument that "it could be just as easily be said that the interactive element in video games acts as an outlet for minors to vent their violent or aggressive behavior, thereby diminishing the chance they would actually perform such acts in reality." The ESA is also seeking out reimbursement of it's legal fees as it did in Illinois.

What helps me get passed aggression is something like meditation and playing videogames is not a VIOLENT act THERE IS NO HATRED INVOLVED, idiots, it's pretty much the same as meditating for me. You're relaxed, focused on one thing rather then all the ***** you don't like about something and soon you forget what you were so angry about in the first place. I recommend it for all.

Is it me or are the people who run the world a bunch of two faced retards

if they ban video games then they should ban books, internet, tv, cinema, all sporting events, gambleing etc.....

lets see how long it would take for people to start killing each other.

p.s. if games made people violent then there would be no one left alive within a 100 miles of my house

I am happy Michigan is one state that is actually paying attention to first amendment rights of people under 18 years old. Some states are tring to restrict that right by saying that violent games should only be bought if your an adult. Some people need to learn that the first amendment applies to all Americans no matter their age.

Age restrictions should aply regardless of what anyone thinks

like gta, i played the game when i was young (good old top down views) i dont think that 7yo should be hearing words like N**** and F****** on a 5 second basis

you 7yo may think your old enough but trust me u aint, go play some mario or somthing

and they all need put out of their misery, just as much. They have no brains, to not think what they are doing is unconstitutiona l .... and stuff.

When downloads are mainstream, what are they going to do then? Try and ban video games all together? LmaO.

Honestly, they need to quit because what they are doing is robbing the voice of the parents, who are responsible for their kids and what they view. And if your a parent who cares about their kids, you'll know what they can and cant view.

All kids are different and have specific tollerences - parents are capable of knowing this. Not some joe-shmoe I never even heard of before - let alone them knowing my kids enough.

Instead of going after video games, this money would better be spent turning around the automotive industry in MI.

The study should be on how people get violent when they lose their jobs. Then they need GTA to vent their frustrations.

hey dude im also under 18 and i LOVE GTA and doom. My fav thing is watching movies like Braindead. ok i know its real sick but hell who gives a damn, i dont got out and kill everyone i see now do i? If i did id be in jail right now having nasty things done to me by some guy called buba. People have diffrent mental ages.

my motto BAN THE BOOMBOX NOT THE XBOX.

Its them chav kids with the load music and love for guns brought on by 50 cent that kill people. Not fans of violence and gore.
