Dragon Quest IX for the DS beats everyone else to the top of the game with a smashing 2, 319,000 copies sold. Wii Sports Resort, which comes in at second place, does not even come an eeny-teeny, bitty close with only 103,000. didn't that guy from koei say rpgs no longer dominated japan...
Yes, he did... and he was right. DQ and FF are the ONLY rpgs that sell millions like this so fast.
First of all, it was one guy's opinion. It also depends on what you mean by dominate. Do you mean there are tons of RPG's to choose from or do you mean sales of RPG games overshadow sales of other games. There are still tons of RPG's coming out constantly, but I don't know enough of the sales data to say if they are or aren't beating everything else. I would think they are still pretty prominent. There have been other titles that do well, namely the Tales series from Namco-Bandai as well as Pokemon + Monster Hunter of course (yes, those are RPG's). I could probably think of more, but those come to mind immediately.
why is this in psp section>.>
Because it's overall software sales, not just about DQIX (even though that's the main thing).
Can't wait for this game to come out here. Loves me a good RPG.
I'm also surprised at the journalistic integrity of this site. It's always been quite low but using old, fan created images based on rumours? Dragon Quest IX uses 1 cartridge, not 2.
Congratulations on being a top quality news site.
