Finally, some good news! Hardware sales picked up last week, with the DSi still on top with 87,185. The Wii's still king of the consoles, selling 49,848 units, an increase from the previous week's 35,298. But that's nothing compared to the PS3's success, doubling from 17,436 in the previous week to 34,978 last week.

Note that when I say "previous week," I mean November 17-24, and these are stats from last week, November 24-30. Just to be clear.

PS3 is back! - Image 1

Even the PS2 did well. Just when you thought that everyone had a PS2 by now, it gets a slight jump from 5,281 to 5,628. The PSP didn't do so hot last week, falling to 55,090, from the previous week's 61,226. After doing great on November 17-24, the Xbox 360 falls from 15,474 to 11,423. Yes, Xbox 360 didn't go three-to-one on the PS3 in Japan.

Let's not forget that this sales burst isn't due to Black Friday - they don't have that in Japan. This is just pure, unBlack-Friday-ed holiday splurge.

yay ps3 ps3 is gonna do great...it already is

can some explain to me why we in NA have to wait untill next year to get the DSi? its already released in Japan, why can't we get it now? it would definitley be a big seller...

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

So they can stomp out all piracy issues before releasing it elsewhere.

Japan has a higher attach rate so basically they blame everyone BUT the Japanese for piracy.

I don't see great games popping on the x360. I'm buying one for the old games I couldn't play, that I'll buy cheap (I found blue dragon 18$/lost odyssey 37$/mass effect 17$, all new). I also saw infinite undiscovery 35$ and eternal sonata at 30$, but I'll wait for them, I have 3 good and long games to finish to let the price drops and drops and drops... Then tales of vesperia will be around 35$ used :D. The only good JRPG for the xbox 360 coming is star ocean 4, and it's the only good game popping soon (exclusives only I mean).

Still, my ps3 is getting all the love next summer, and it got a lot of love (too much says my wallet) before that. I just NEEDED a bunch of RPGs in the holidays, lol (hoping it won't RROD).

PS: White knight story is popping in japan right now, so DAH they'll buy a ps3... Tales is great but nothing compared to white knight (level 5 is the best).

» Yup...

That's the thing....360 is cheap and has some decent game out, but nothing for the future....the future is all PS3....but hey, why not spend a couple hundred bux to play some solid games....

I will say though, i'm a big fan of RPG/JRPG and I will urge you not to buy infinite undiscovery, even if it is by square....

That game needs to remain, infinitely undiscovered....horrible....

Well, no, it's not doing great. That's why it's globally in last (3rd) place.

But why the hell should that stop you from enjoying the system?

The thing is the 360 has many great games (most not to my tastes though) and a rosey future too. Looking over at metacritic the 360 has way more 90% games than the PS3 and even the Wii. So will people drop it about the 360 having no games? It's absolutely the craziest thing you could say, "I hate being outdoors it's as if there's TOO much oxygen".

» uhhh...

We were saying quite the opposite....that it does have a good library of games, especially for the price...

I am saying though that 360 has blown it's load and really has nothing big for the future, save maybe gears 3....and even then I wouldn't expect very many if any technical progression.....360 is starting to be pushed to it's capacity right now, while PS3 is just starting to get it's legs under it.....that's what I am saying about "the future is all PS3", the past was all 360....

But it clealy hasn't "blown its load". Even though the 360 gets the least play time from me I'm seeing more upcoming games for that system that I'm interested in than any other system.

And if we're talking about "blowing its load" then what exclusives has the PS3 got now? At least the Wii has a new Mario and Zelda in the pipeline.

Uhhh ok...Sony doesnt have exclusives coming out in the future? Sure...

Resistance 3, Uncharted 2, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, inFamous, God Of War III, Ratchet + Clank, Killzone 2....none of these are exclusives huh?

Nintendo has nothing BUT those two games left to offer REAL gamers.

Sony's still got quite the following.

Try doing some reading up before you troll this site.

you can still enjoy the DS library of crap games on the DS lite, just on 1/4in smaller screen.

If you want the DSi effect, why not just get a magnifier that was made popular by small screen, low-res Nintendo handhelds?

Did you think 2 low res cameras or some useless flash memory would enhance the experience while playing six flags fun park?

Holiday shopping in Japan picks up after the new year.

I hope the PS3 makes a strong showing.

With all the PS2 sales even now, it seems Sony would offer PS2 backward compatibility on the PS3, ya know, to help justify a $400 purchase?

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

As always, you are full of shlt.

You forgot:

Enhanced audio

DSi Store

Memory storage

.....

It's funny how you always forget to address the FACTS when making your BS comments.
