Media Create Japan: PSP still hogs top spot, reaches 2 million sales mark |
Dragon Quest V for the DS may still own the top spot in the software sales charts, but that - and 21 other titles in Media Create's top 50 - clearly wasn't enough for the Nintendo DS to overtake Sony's portable console in the hardware side of things. Sony's PSP is once again enjoying the top spot in the Japanese Media Create hardware sales charts, scoring about 67,452 units sold and managed to reach a big milestone: a 2 million sales mark. It's a nice week this time for the PSP, with six games included in the top 50, two of them making it into the top ten (Gundam Battle Universe and Eiyuu Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki the 3rd).
Nintendo's DS follows with 56,968 units snapped up for this week, which makes a sound 10,000 unit difference in favor of the PSP. However, Nintendo still reigns supreme in the software charts with two DS games and four Wii titles ruling the top ten spots. Some of the titles, such as Dragon Quest V, Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii were carried over from last week's list of top ten games, alongside the PSP's Gundam Battle Universe.
The Wii managed to keep its third placer spot in Media Create's hardware sales charts with 41,024 consoles snapped up for this week, far ahead than the two Sony consoles and Microsoft's Xbox 360.
