Media Create Japan: Dragon Quest remake and PSP rule supreme |
Ó
Square Enix reaped a literal windfall from the latest software sales report in Japan according to Media Create. More than half a million copies of the Nintendo DS remake of Dragon Quest V were sold, making it the number one title in the country for the week of July 14 to July 20.Namco Bandai also made its mark as the latest Gundam title placed second in the weekly sales, with Atlus' Persona 4 pushing itself down to third place after its release last July 10. It was also noted that Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G made a return to the top 10 list after a significant drop in sales over the past few weeks.
On the hardware side of things, the PSP still reigns supreme against its other competitors. Nintendo's DS and Wii platforms once again remain strong runners up in the race, with 54,531 and 40,803 units sold respectively. Sony's console platforms followed suite, and Microsoft's Xbox 360 takes the rear guard once again with 4,208 sales.

I thought Dragon Quest would give the DS enough of a boost to pass PSP this week but it seems as if everyone in Japan already owns one lol.
To say the least about the number of Gundam titles popping up on the PSP (and just about every platform).
