Straight from the press waves comes news that a former executive of McAfee Inc. is going to take front and center of Electronic Arts' financial operations - that is, the duties of the Chief Financial Officer - in the near future. Eric Brown, former Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer of McAfee, will also be getting the role of executive vice president for the superstar publisher.
And EA's John Riccitiello, head honcho and game opinion extraordinaire, warmly welcomes Brown's return.
"Eric's strong financial background, broad international experience and industry knowledge makes him a perfect fit for EA," said Riccitiello. He also added that Brown is one of the most respected Chief Financial Officers in the biz, and that working with Brown is forthcoming.
True enough, Brown was a valuable asset to McAfee, having been behind some of the company's strategic directions in the past years. But before he started on that by 2006, Brown was apparently the Chief Operations Officer of EA's Redwood Shores Studios (the studio currently working on Dead Space at present).
Now he'll have to fill in the shoes of EA's former CFO, Warren Jenson, who officially resigned a few days ago with undisclosed reasons. As for McAfee's side, they've currently placed Keith Krzeminski, their senior VP of finance, to warm Brown's former seat while they ponder the possible candidates for replacing him.
