Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Iron Fist joins up, more details from Vicarious Visions

He may not be as well known as, say, Spider-Man, but Iron Fist remains as one of the more iconic Marvel characters from the 70s. As such, he'll be among the many playable characters appearing in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (DS, Wii, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360).

For those who don't know who the F this kung fu-fighting superhero is, below are some screenshots and a video. Oh yeah, sidenote: I haven't really kept up to date with any Marvel titles recently, so I was a bit caught off-guard by the new costume.

Vicarious Visions president and co-founder, Guha Bala, also confirmed that Ultimate Alliance 2 will be "more real, a bit grittier" compared to the first game, thanks in part to being based on the Marvel Civil War storyline.

The game has a different narrative style than the classic comic book romp. This is more real, a bit grittier. It's a look at a pretty compelling debate.

Those who followed the Civil War storyline will know that the two opposing sides were led (and symbolized) by Iron Man and Captain America. In the game, players will be able to play both sides of the war.

Ultimate Alliance 2 will also feature new attacks called Powerfusions, which we reported as a rumor a while back. Powerfusions let players combine the powers of two heroes for a unique new attack. The game itself supports up to four players, so perhaps two is just the least number here. I for one am hoping that we get to combine up to four attacks.

» That looks cool!

Haven't heard of Iron Fist until now. He looks cool but I don't dig the costume. His power are epic though. The powerfusion is awesome too. I also hoped there would be 4 powerfusion cause that would be godlike.

» Just make up for...

what Marvel did to Deadpool in the upcoming Origins movie. The movie was good, but they screwed Deadpool up, bad. 1st Venom, now Deadpool. They make the coolest heros lame. They seem to do a good job with IronFist though in this game, I hope they keep it up.

I've read various Iron Fist stories but I've never really liked him. Still the game looks good.

» Sweet!

Speaking as a big comic book geek, if you want some quality Iron fist literature, read the EXCELLENT Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction "Iron Fist" series. I would also suggest reading the Daredevil storylines "The Trial" through "Devil in Cell Block D" and then the six-issue "White Tiger" limited series.

After reading these various comics, I am fully convinced that "The Immortal Iron Fist" is awesome.

I can't wait for this game!

» Sounds great

I loved the first UA game. I just hope Spidey and all the others from the first make it into the game.

Now, how about some Marvel vs Capcom 3. ^_^
