GameSpot has released a preview of the incoming "Madden NFL 06":

"The Madden series has been out for nearly a month on consoles, the Nintendo DS, and the PC, but there's one gaming platform yet to go for the biggest name in sports gaming. The Sony PSP is getting a version of Madden NFL 06 all its own, and it's one that will feature some gaming twists unique to the handheld. We spent some time with the game, particularly on the franchise mode, which has been the beneficiary of some PSP-only additions that add some spice to the standard weekly franchise grind..."

Seattle wore pink uniforms in the original Tecmo bowl. As a child from Washington that really scarred me growing up.

Hey I would like to support homebrew and make some games. I know everything there is to know about operating systems. So what programs and books should I look into to begin.

Flamers...they never cease to make me laugh. They make different genre games because not everybody has the same tastes. If you're gonna flame, play it and get familiar with it. THEN if it still sucks, say what you gotta.

LOL...American football sucks? Hahaha...I remember the last time pspupdates.com posted up news about Madden. Everybody went berzerk, talking about F U and F That and F America and WWII pWnz ****es!

Go to the library, find a history text book, and READ. PLAY the sport of football and see how athletic you really are. Madden is the first name you think of you talk about football announcers. Madden games are good, but NCAA Football is a lot better...and it always has been. Fantasy games don't suck...they give you the time to think like a child again and not take things so seriously...unlike all you flamers who tend to think you're always ****en right. Just chill the F out and have fun.

Madden and GTA are best sellers for a reason. Football players get 100 million dollar contracts for a reason. I don't know enough about about rugby or soccer to criticize them, but I can't imagine either involve as much strategy as football does. It's not only a tough, physical, exciting game, but every play is a battle of wits between coaches, which is why it tranlates so well in a game like madden, especially in tournaments or online. In the case of Madden, there are elements of strategy, head to head competition, role playing, and action all in one video game.

If I come at you in an I-form on third and short, you better know whether to look for the run or drop into a zone. If my opponent tries spreading the field with the Falcons, I'll be waiting with a spy on Mike Vick. You don't want to double Randy Moss or TO, get ready to get burned downfield. There more to it then button mashing or quick reflexes, which separates it from most head to head games... and me, I like the competition.

Madden has never measured up on a portable system, and this could be the first time a handheld version holds it's own. The online play could have more potential than any other game on the system short of SOCOM. There has never been a game you can play on a console, and continue while you're away, then return to when you get back. This is a bigger step for connectivity than Nintendo has ever taken. I have high hopes for Madden on PSP, hopefully it holds up to expectations.

Just watched some video. The wide screen may increase the field of vision and help compensate for the small size. The mini-games may add reply value to the handheld version.

I'd like to oil Madden up and give him my big football.
