Madden dominates NPD US August software charts, DS still leading hardware |

John Riccitiello must be a very happy man right now.
Madden NFL 09 (Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, DS, PC, PS3, PS2) has dominated the NPD US charts for August. The game's Xbox 360 version is sitting pretty at the top spot with a million units sold while the PS3 and PS2 versions are in second and third place with 643,000 and 424,500 units sold, respectively.
Nintendo's Wii Fit gave a strong showing, too, getting the fourth spot with 394,900 units sold. At fifth is another Nintendo title, Mario Kart Wii, with 328,700 units sold. Here's a complete list of the top ten games:
- Madden NFL 09 (EA Tiburon, Xbox 360) - 1,000,000
- Madden NFL 09 (EA Tiburon, PlayStation 3) - 643,000
- Madden NFL 09 (EA Tiburon, PlayStation 2) - 424,500
- Wii Fit (Nintendo, Wii) - 394,900
- Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo, Wii) - 328,700
- Wii Play (Nintendo, Wii) - 200,200
- Soul Calibur IV (Project Soul, Xbox 360) - 174,000
- Too Human (Silicon Knights, Xbox 360) - 168,200
- Madden NFL 09 (EA Tiburon, Wii) - 115,800
- Guitar Hero: On Tour (Vicarious Visions, Nintendo DS) - 111,200
Rounding out the top five are the Xbox 360, selling a total of 195,200 units and getting the fourth spot, and the PS3 with 185,400 units sold. It's worth noting that the Xbox 360 price cut didn't affect the August sales as it took effect only this month.

Why are games like wii fit and mkart wii still there MEH anyway nice to see ps3 closing in 360 as the ps3 closes in over the nest year on total sales we will see similar > ps3 software sales on particular titles.

Also in response to your comment I wouldn't count on it. Wait till the reports come out next month it's going to be sad for the ps3 only owners.
You should just be like me and get both systems that way you never lose! :) I'll be playing fable and LBP next month yahoo.. I'm much more excited about LBP though.
Or get the top selling Wii and the top selling PC so you can be a fanboy and thumb your nose at everyone just like wilmheath.

Gee, someone else that doesn't "get it". That's nice because the BETTER the PS3 does the more willingly people companies are to dump money into it. Gees, that's like high school Econ common sense.
I'm glad the 360 outsold the ps3 since the ps3 is trash it's almost as bad as the Wii.
