SamSamuel Jackson is set to return as the host of Spike TV's fourth annual Video Game Awards. The awards will be taped on December 8 and then will be edited so that viewers won't have to endure all the long boring speeches, the bad jokes at the expense of the visiting celebrities, and the bad onstage performances. The awards will be held at the University of Southern California's Galen Center in LA.

Voting for the show begins today Spike TV's site. Fans can vote in 27 different categories, including Most Addictive Game, Game of the Year and Cyber Vixen of the Year. Voting closes on Thursday, December 7.

» Breakthrough technology

How can the Wii be a nominee for breakthrough technology when everything they are using is last generation technology.(ie. DVDs)

by Mak - 2006-11-10 02:19
» Don't bother...

The Spike VGAs are just for entertainment. Nothing more. They have funny skits, but their choices for awards are always rediculous. Just look at this list and tell me that you find it agreeable.

Their decissions are based on hype/commercialism value -- not the game itself. They also tend to favour the American games a lot more than the Japanese games (probably because they have more commercial value).

Last year they gave the Best Female Actress in a game to that chick from Fantastic 4 game because her sound bites taken from the movie sounded good... and apparently King Kong was the best game ever...

Like I said. Watch it for the skits, but don't trust them to tell you what the BEST games are.

All those nominees suck!

Best action game- New Super Mario Bros?

Where the F***s Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition!

They really need to make more logical Award categories.

They got Action, RPG & Sports. Where the hell is Platforming, Adventure, Shooting, Puzzle and FPS?

» Hated it

Watched it a year or two ago and it was the worst mistake in my life. It was SO lame. It was like the most un-funny show ever and had almost nothing to do with games. They just had a lot of celebrities and scantily clad women on stage.

I think the show was like two hours long and I kid you not, it had only about 15 minutes of actual game related stuff.

» Not For Gamers

Yes this award show can inspire frustration. They basically have no clue about video games at this award show. If you enjoy watching celebrities pose as gamers go right on ahead. I bet they just put Okami in some categories to try and quell the true gamer audience, but it won't win a single thing.

All in all it sucks.

» You are right

There is absolutely nothing innovative about the Nintendo Wii. Nothing at all, you idiot.

by TheDude - 2006-11-10 09:53
» well...

I agree with polishpride212. The actual wii console is not breakthrough technology. So really they should have said nintendo wii controller.

» wii

the wii is definatly a breakthrough system.

it doesnt always have to be 'new technology' for it to be breakthrough. its more of the whole idea of the wii is breakthrough.

videogamers being called lazy and fat, the wii hopes to change that.

instead of just being for a select group of people, its mroe appealing to all sorts of groups (from elders, to young children, to even physically handicapped people)

as for the best military game, when will socom finally get the love it deserves? i mean even the new one (ca) came out a week after ffxii, so release date cant be a problem

by Anonymous - 2006-11-10 22:46
» stupid list

I dont agree with alot of things. first, how is the electroplankton breakthrough(i didnt even hear of it until now)?

Where are the other Genres?

How come Zelda:Twilight Princess(Ninten do) and Final Fantasy XII (Sony) isn't in the Game of the Year award, both of which are HUGE games, with a fanbase just as big.

B*ll Shyt. 100% Wii-Tarded(just had to say that)

Tilt sensor is no *****ing breakthrough in technology.

» Dumbass

Well dumb*****, it's specifically called "breakthrough in technology". Well gee, I wonder what that could mean?

It *****ing means breakthrough in *****ing technology.

You Nintendo fanboys cease to amaze me.

The very least you could do is go to school and learn to read.

Remember to stay in school kids, unlike this dip*****.

» Sam Jackson

I expect to hear a few "Snake on a Plane" jokes from Samuel during the awards show. Is there a "Snakes on a Plane" video game out? If there is I need to get me a copy of it ASAP, lol. Samuel L. Jackson is a great choice to host the awards. This year he's been nominated for a People's Choice Award for Favorite Male Action Star. You can vote for him at http://www.pcavote.com . Tomorrow (Saturday) at midnight is the last day you can vote. I got my vote in on the day the nominees were out because I work with The People's Choice Community. Tune in to CBS on January 9th to see who wins.
