Longest Tekken 6 winning streak set at London MCM expo |
Ó
It's only been a day since Tekken 6 hit retail (officially, at least), and already it's making its way into the record books - the Guinness Book of World Records, in particular. Taking a look at the action down at the London MCM Expo over the weekend, Guinness officials crowned the new record holder for the longest Tekken 6 winning streak.
The award went to Eliot Smith-Walters, also known as "Shadow Force" for racking up 68 consecutive best-of-three matches. He lost only 9 rounds and managed to nail 25 perfect rounds during that streak, while switching between Lars, Miguel, Lee, and Dragunov.
I was just wondering about that little stat tough. 25 perfects? Was he playing legit foes? It wouldn't be much of a record if you got 68 wins over a long queue of five-year-olds who would much rather play Naruto in Namco Bandai's booth. Anyway, the day belongs to him, and major props for the achievement. His name will be added into the Gamer's Edition of the Guinness Book of World Records next year.
One big opponent Shadow Force had was over the Super vs. Battle 2009 champ, Phil "Dinosaur" McKenzie. "It was certainly a dramatic few hours," said Guinness editor Gaz Deaves."With Dinosaur's epic win at the Super vs. Battle this year we were expecting him to walk away with the record, so when Eliot KO'd him in the third round we almost couldn't believe what we were seeing. Overall the standard of play was very high, with Eliot clearly the strongest on the day."
Got Tekken? Tekken 6 is out now for the PS3 and Xbox 360, while we're still waiting for the PSP release.
