Previously reported yesterday, the demo for LocoRoco is now available for download. Before you immediately click on download keep in mind that to play this demo, you will need to have firmware 2.70 installed. For those of you paying a first time visit here, or unsure what this means, it means that currently you will not be able to play any homebrew (homemade programs) on your PSP.You need will need at least 8MB free space on your memory stick for the installation of the application, and as I mentioned previously PSP Firmware 2.70 (if you dare.) Installation:
1.) Add a folder in the base directory of your memory stick entitled "PSP".
2.) Under the "PSP" folder, create a folder named "GAME"
3.) Under the "GAME" folder, create a folder named "UCJS10041"
4.) Put the downloaded file into the "UCJS10041" folder.

Is there no way to run iso's this way if you can run demo's from the GAME folder ?
If a PSP with 2.0 and pspset0.3b set to 3.00 .

I really hope that someone will figure out a way to debuild the firmware 2.70 update, so everyone will be able to play the latest demos at theyr 2.6 or less.
This is a great step for the PSP lets hope more demo's become available
is it me or is the game surprisingly entertaining,ev erything from the unique tilt screen and weird japenese music in the backround...hmmmmm im actually beggining to think updating to 2.7 was a great idea but only if game companies continue to release demos for the psp
Sony should release more demos for PSP, and maybe release an official dev kit for homebrew developers.
I would also like to see an English demo of this game released.
Well, this works fine with the new US 2.7 Update; It shows a little yellow blob dancing to japanese music in the background.
I have no idea what this is; more like a movie than a game. lol. Oh, well.

anyone for translating the controls?
You can move the blob with pressing R to the right and L to the l eft, and if you want to jump you press L if you moving to the right and R if youre moving to the left, single press O to let the blob fall out in some small blobs.and hold O to le tall the blobs become 1 big blob again ;) Thats it.
hey um if u can put sony eboot in this folder cant u put an emulators eboot .... Maybe ... ill try it after school!

You have 2.70? Cool, where did you buy your PSP? Is the PSP Japanese/Chinese, or can you on any other psp?
it would be a little bit too easy, just beiing able to run homebrew (Eboot's) straight from the game folder,
i wish it were possible, but i strongly doubt it...
i hope there will be another exploit soon so the homebrew scene can go forward...
LocoRoco seems to be a straightforward encrypted + signed EBOOT - i.e. the sort of thing that the /psp/game/ folder was designed for.
This doesn't help us to run homebrew - the PSP has ALWAYS been capable of running signed+encrypte d eboots from the game folder, the challenge has always been about running UNSIGNED / UNENCRYPTED eboots.
And no, we're not able to sign or encrypt homebrew in the necessary way to allow it to be run.
I get a corrupted file when i try to run the game. help.

I doubt that their will be a pc version released because this was a misinterpretati on of the newsposter. The site meant that you can either download it straight to your PSP or download it through your PC an then copy it to your PSP. You can't play it on PC.

When is this game coming out! For some reason it being so cute doesn't bother me. I guess sony does listen. People complain "hey where's my flash player", boom u get it. "Where's my original titles?" boom loco roco comes out. "Every system is backward compitatible why not the PSP Sony". Boom PS1 emulator. Ask and you shall recieve. Where is my ONLINE PLAY! I hate playing by myself =( is so depresing. Now really where is my damn white psp?, damn u sony we need this beautiful piece of hardware in the U.S. PLEASE.
Well in PSU some guys got a team..and their trying to crack LocoRoco..so good luck to them. But if they don't do so...guess who will....yes thats right none other then our own Fanjita & Diltew. The best at what they do and I know damn right from all the people that are trying to crack this..someone will. And when they do ill treat them like God. lol
Really, when I first started this game up... I couldn't figure out how to play it. After some fooling around, I have this game down pat. And... it is such an addictive game. The music, everything.

btw i think you ARE the planet, on witch the rocos live, and you tilt in different directions to make the rocos roll i different ways, then you make a thunderstorm to break them apart and an earthquake to scare them back together into one big happy blob.

LocoRoco would be a lot better if you guy didnt jump on his own. i was about 2 inches away from a bad guy and of couse my guy jumps right into him.
if sony could make downloadable demos playable through the psps memory card, im sure that someone will find a way to hack 2.7...all the have to do is use the same format as sony, or play homebrew from a demo like locoroco
I tried hexing it itll load to the white startup screen but then the screen goes black...

MAking this demo thing might lead to the possibility of a 1.0 firmware where you can launch the games off the menu. Once this is hacked... and it will probly take a while, I am going to update for sure! This'll be the best firmware for homebrew once it's hacked!
this is nothing new, the PSP will let you run updates from your computer already, which the machine doesn't consider much differently then this. Though I think you could get through if you looked through the codes and compared.
Are you running linux or microsoft(on you pc)? If it's linux, e-mail me : s_h_a_d_o_w_s@h otmail.com If it's linux, plug the PSP in with the usb cable, then shut your PC for about an hour, with your speakers and PSP on (keep PSP in USB mode). REboot and see if it works.
P.S. For all who are wondering, it works fine on american PSP's, i highly recommend it, it's very fun! (use L & R to move, and O to morph and split the blobs)

Do you really think sony is stupid enough to release an upgrade and "unlock" the capabilities that they've been trying to combat for over a year just for a demo.
The capability to run official sony programs has always been there. Like "fanjita" said the hard part is of course running unsigned code, like we have in homebrew.
E.G. whats the difference between a real program by sony and a homebrew program...the real program is signed, by sony themselves and the psp is programmed only to allow signed content to be run. Sure in the long run this may eventually lead to another crack but i'll be fecked if i'm upgrading just for this demo (despite the fact this is the game i've been wanting the most for psp since i got it)
By getting people to upgrade with a demo and the hope of homebrew since its apparently "like teh easy dood", they're getting exactly what they want. Less homebrew and ISO users and more people forced to pay for their products.

53 yeah get Ubuntu, detects every thing, and doesn't freeze. I had a PC from 98, sucked! it never froze, sometime the fram rate went way down, but never froze.
Now Loco Roco, it is worth upgradin. I would guess that the full game will need 2.7, which I am downloading now.
This ability for the PSP to play demo's is great and I hope that Sony will contact the creators of the best homebrew game, and make it officelle, or making a XBOX Live Arcade like FREE service with demos and games(fanmade or sonymade).
Why Fanjita can`t write a "signed" loader? I Know this would be hard to figure out but once it`s done we can play Homebrew on all Firmwares without any Exploit.
Or you guys have to find a Sony Developer who write one ;)

I've been reading all the comments about how fun/simple the game so I downloaded it and I guess the charm just isn't there for me. Great visuals, awesome sound, original...but a bit blah and kind of a slow demo for my taste. I'll continue to mess around with it, but to be honest I'd rather go download DS Download Station demos (which I did). They actually contributed to me buying a couple of games. Most here would say upgrade the firmware and go to town with it...I say you skip it. Lost its charm pretty quick and I really wanted to like this one.

everytime i try to dl and play, it says corrupted data...i followed the instructions on screen, but it aint workin. am i doing sumthin rong here?
Did the psp completely install version 2.7? How do you upgrade? Through the psp wifi or from a file on your comp? If it's from a file on your comp you know you have to run the upgrade program from your psp right?
Are you sure you put it in the folder they suggested?
I'm not sure how it could be screwed up if both of those conditions are met.

i use a usb, so basically i move the file to the folder, go to gamesaves and start the 2.7.
my only issue is...where do i go to play loco?

hey fanjita this might be a dumb question but can't you look at the code in the eboot and see how they signed it to work in the game folder then copy all the loco roco eboot code to another eboot and see if it works then edit the eboot that worked as much as you can and stuff...if you know what i mean

The game will be found under the game icon. You just need to choose the memory stick option and the icon for locoroco will be there. I'm not sure if this is where you keep getting a corrupt file error, but I'm not sure why you would.

sony is smart they gave us flash on 2.7 the reason homebrew dont work is because locoroco is a flash formatted game. hombrews will work if you find a way to put it in flash format. why do you think it wont work on2.6 or lower because the firmwares DONT HAVE aFLASH! so sony converted it like a homebrew but with some new program they have. when you activate flash you activated locoroco!
Really, if the EBOOTs for the downloadable demos get cracked, Sony will take drastic measures to fix the problem. For instance, they could cease downloadibles and force us to use UMD to play the demos (which most of us probably don't want to see happening). I'm sure there are better alternatives out there for cracking firmwares. Don't get me wrong though, I love my homebrew and I love being able to play Gradius II and Guardian Legend on NesterJ, I just don't want to see a good thing like downloadible goodies get canned because of somebody cracking those EBOOTs. For once, Sony's making a good move and I want to see things like this become a trend...
I also pray to God that they won't do anything to ***** us over by preventing us from playing those awesome foriegn demos in the future....

Everyone listen up, because this is important. This was a brilliant move by Sony. Flash can make pretty much any game and is better for homebrew than firmware 1.5. However, you can't run bootleg psp games in flash. So, Sony just opened up Homebrew to all of you with the exception of running illegal games, which you shouldn't do anyway. Congratulations . You just got homebrew unlocked. In addition, flash is an easier program to work with than what people were using with the GTA Exploit. Now everyone here make your homebrew in flash and stop complaining. Unless, when you say homebrew, you were thinking of running bootleg games?

It is an actual game with actual PSP coding, not flash. How do I know this? I played Loco Roco before activating flash. And it's running off the actual Loco Roco engine, which isn't flash.
However, if someone finds out what they signal for a button press in flash is, then hello, homebrew.

If 2.7 can play Flash games, this will be 10x better then homebrew instead of running the risk of ruining ur psp you can just download flash off the net!
Anyone whos got 2.7, try this:
Download a flash game of the net, (try flash saver for saving it)
Put it in X:MP_ROOT/(flash game)
Go to ur browser and type in:
file:/MP_ROOT/(flash game name).swf
If that doesnt work put the flash game on a html and then save it on ur psp, and load it up, that would definitely work!

wasn't there an early loco roco (game-share)demo wich disappeared when turning off the psp (even before the 2.7 firmware release)? isn't there a way to find this and 'crack' it or something?

100% isn't that hard if you have nothing better to do, my best time for 100% was 7 minutes 59 seconds (17775 points) and my best time for a high-speed run was 2 min 40.60 sec (Some really low score that I don't remember)

This game demo is great and it is a great idea to have downloadable game demos. It will get people to upgrade there firmware. Does anyone know if there are plans for any more demos to be releaed?

There is a new upgrade v 2.71 It lets download demos right from your PSP, and you don't need to make any new folders! And to all you guys who won't upgrade because of that gay ass homebrew, the joke is on you because, by the time somebody gets v 2.70 to run homebrew, the next version after v 2.71 will be out! So just upgrade already!

LocoRoco freakin' rocks! i can't wait for it to come to the US. it really original and i really like it.
to Ike: check in the XMB (the main menu, type thing) scroll over to Game the check down to Memory Stick, it should be there, it works just fine for me, make sure you're using a USB2.0 cable and port for it...
this game is sick, no really it is, if you play it for too long you start playing the game while standing on your head.. well its good to see demo support for PSP, but maybe theres a possibility someone will get homebrew emulators to work on the new firmware releases, *****
