Last week worst ever for PSP sales in Europe, numbers should spike after PSP Slim launches |
Ó
ChartTrack statistics have pegged last week as the worst sales period for Sony's PlayStation Portable handheld video game system in Europe. The dip in sales (32.1% to be exact) was attributed by Sony to growing anticipation for the PSP Slim's launch. This is according to a report from MCV UK."There are probably a lot of consumers who are now waiting for Slim & Lite to arrive," said ChartTrack director Dorian Bloch. "The fact that kids are returning to school is also sure to have had a marked effect. There are always bad words to say about a dip like this, but there may well be a sales spike in week 37 after the new console is launched."
The redesign for the company's popular handheld will be launching in the UK on September 14. ChartTrack also noted that retailers were thinning out stock of the original PSP to make sure that there will be enough PSP Slims at launch.

Not only the '"Kids" were waiting for the Slim version, but the fact that Sony wasnt delivering anymore PSPs since a couple of weeks its a matter too.. I can tell that by f.e. Germay Shop Chain MEDIAMARKT.. When the Stock went out, Customers couldnt get anyone until the new does Arrive.. wich they are now, I saw them today at such Stores..
No where to buy a PSP, hence why sales are at an all time low. Only one to blame is Sony in this matter.
I can confirm that. You can't get the old PSP anywhere in Germany. I tried it at Mediamarkt and Saturn (two german shops for electronics etc.) and both said me that they are waiting for the new PSP.
If someone told you you could get a better, slimmer PSP next month that is also CHEAPER than the current one, what would you do?
Yep, to find one for my brother I had to check 20 store to find one 40km from my house. Storekeeper say Sony stopped to send supplies months ago.
aaaaaaaaaaaaahh hhhh hahahahahaha
3 magic letters: CFW
Then, cheaper, I'm not sure, current pricing of old gen is 249 for Value Pack + 4GB. 180 for a bare unit isn't a fantastic deal.
no surprise really.
If you want an old psp so bad and live in europe then come to estonia. the price maybe isnt the best but you can find an old psp almost anywhere. (even mobile sale place or whatever you call them are selling psp-s :) )
Last week worst ever for PSP sales in Europe, numbers should spike after PSP Slim hacked.
My Point wasnt about we want badly an Old PSP, but to point out that the the "worst sales" are not because People do wait, but because there wasnt any Stock anymore to be buyed.. Maybe if it were there, people hadnt buyed because a new one is coming, but we dont know.. the Fact is, in both theories.. the worst sales were programmed and no surprise.
