A new Metal Gear Solid title is on its way to the Sony PlayStation Portable handheld system. Well, kind of, anyway.

According to video game news site IGN, Konami has announced Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops +, an expansion for last year's Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops during Sony's PlayStation Premier event in Tokyo.

The expansion will apparently focus on online play and, as with any expansion worth its salt, will also include new stages and characters. Konami is also reportedly adding a new single player mode called Infinity Mission.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops + is currently slated for release in Japan on September 20. It will be available both as a standalone purchase for 2,400 yen (US$ 20) and as part of a Deluxe Pack that includes the original Portable Ops for 4,300 yen (US$ 35).

» AWESOME!

An expansion for my favorite PSP game? Yes, Please!

Knowing Konami, though, the U.S. and EU release dates are going to be halfway through next year.

» Main Storyline?

Is this game like MGS2: Substance?

or it is a game in Main Storyline between MPO & MG1?

i thought portable ops felt like a metal gear acid without cards and delayed movement...cant forget the dreadful 16-bit mode :(

» hey Karl B.

the 2nd/middle picture is showing an old map, which was from mgs3: subsistence... sounds like they are going to revive old mgo maps. but the old ones like the one shown has map-glitching, hopefully fixed

maps from groznyjgrad own +)

» yeah

looks just like the one from twin snakes/mgs1

» maybe

I hope it adds to the story but doubt it. I't be cool if you could get character from MGS2 like Solidus Raiden Solid Snake Ect. but solidus would be pretty sweet to play as.

i saw this on kojima's website as soon as they upload it. it surprised me because i just went there yesterday to see if there is news about the mgs4 playable demo on playstation japan july 17 2007 event. i didnt see what i came for but i was surprised by this.

» fanboys

portable ops is really not my cup of tea. it has laggy movement (even the ps1 version is better and smoother) and they are actually making another one.

it is really difficult to play if you as a common gamer. i think this is for the real fanboys. i liked all the mgs series cept this. hehe.

oh well, you can't please everybody.
