L.A. Lakers' eight-time NBA All-Star guard, Kobe Bryant is set to grace the cover of NBA 07 for the PSP and PlayStation2 versions. Bryant, drafted in 1996, made his debut at 18 years old and has since gone on to become one of the most dominant and clutch players in the game. With an point average of 35.4 this year (leading the league), he also recently grabbed the second highest NBA single game point record with 81 against the Toronto Raptors earlier this year. This is not his only accolade however, as he also holds the records for the youngest player to start an NBA All-Star Game, reach the 10,000 point mark and be named to the NBA's All Defensive Team.
Now back to the most-anticipated videogame. NBA 07 looks set to improve over the depth and authenticity in last year's game by introducing new features, enhanced gameplay and a inside experience to the life in the league, through Volume 2 of the Life Mode - where players will experience the ups and downs of the NBA and will explore team politics, press conferences, endorsement deals and the relationship between returning characters The Kid and Big W. Bundle this with refine mechanics, Open Shot Indicator, Power Boarding System and a dozen mini-games, NBA 07 is looking very promising.
NBA 07, by publisher SCEA, is set for release this fall 2006 and is rated 'E' for Everyone.

This is not to say that I'm one of 'em Kobe haters. It's just that I don't think someone with such an attitude should stand up for anything (in this case gaming), he just doesn't deserve such an honor. His basketball skills are phenomenal yes (heck, 82 points is just plain sick! well, if you look away from the fact that he did have only two assists then). He just stand for everything that's wrong with NBA basketball; too much reliability on one-on-one plays, overlooking the fact that basketball is a TEAM sport.
Don't give me the crap that his teamates are not good, heck MJ made even Longley look good. The true measure of a good player is not only when he makes himself look good (for Kobe's part, awesome), but when he has the ability to make his teamates look better (like LBJ, Wade, etc.).
Also, I detest the "he didn't rape the girl, therefore he's not a bad guy" argument. He fully admitted that he CHEATED on his wife, that alone sounds immoral in the planet I live in, regardless whether he did rape that oklahoma minor or not.
One more thing, he was voted as one of the top ten most detested athletes - by his coplayers. That alone speaks of how much 'unworthy' he is. I'm sure we all notice how he glares at his teamates for minor errors (usually if the ball wasn't passed to him); and we all know the lamar tussle, allegedly from being fed up with Kobe's blaming.
Bottomline is: While I worship Kobe's amazing ability to score (no pun intended), I can't say he's one of the more complete players in the league today; exciting, yes. effective, no. And, his great basketball skills are not enough to make me turn away from the fact that he has attitude issues, and thus will never win my vote as a role model for anyone.
