Kingdom Hearts features three new games for the series available on the handhelds and mobile - Image 1Riding on the fame Square Enix has developed for the series during the previous years, Kingdom Hearts readies itself for a new generation of games for the handheld and the mobile.

Announced during this year's Tokyo Game Show, the new games will be featured in Japan first before any thoughts of a U.S. release will be settled. However, we can give everyone a little preview into each of these releases.

First off, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for the Nintendo DS features the story of Organization XIII's Number 13 Roxas. The game looks into the life of the semi-protagonist of Kingdom Hearts 2's life during his days in Organization XIII. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 will feature single-player as well as multiplayer missions through the WiFi capabilities of the Nintendo DS.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep for the PSP is a sort of prequel to the entire series. It tells the tale of a trio of heroes who seek out a wayward Keyblade master. Those of you who've unlocked the hidden FMV found in Kingdom Hearts 2 will finally be able to follow the teaser ending it gave everyone through the end. The game will feature the same traditional controls, game system, and the visual style of its predecessors.

Finally, Kingdom Hearts coded for the mobile bring together the first collaborated project between Square Enix and the Walt Disney Internet Group. It tells the story of the events after Kingdom Hearts when Jiminy Cricket finds a mysterious message in his journal. King Mickey then digitizes the contents of the journal and asks Sora to investigate the matter. A digitized Sora enters the new world and tries to unravel the mystery behind it.

All these games definitely sound like a good way to extend the series and further flesh out an already fantastic story. Hopefully, the release for their respective U.S. versions won't be too far off so we can immerse ourselves in more Walt Disney video game goodness.

» Sounds good

I really want to know what the battles in 358/2 are going to be like though. Coded seem like puzzles from what I've seen, Birth by sleep seem to be the original type, but I haven't been able to find anything showing 358/2's battle system yet.

It'd be nice to see something about KHIII soon too. If nothing else, I want to know whether it will be on the Wii or PS3, as it could go to either. If it's going to stay one of the most amazing games graphically, it's going to be PS3, but it could be amazing on the Wii if it's done right, and there's the whole thing about that being where almost all of the games target market are.

I suppose if it comes to it, I will buy a PS3 to play it, but personally, the Wii seems like a better choice for them. The only reason to use the PS3 is graphics, and how detailed can cartoony stuff get before it starts to look strange?

Well, at least I already have both a PSP and a DS, so I'll be ready to get both of these on launch.

It's good to see the great games come out for the psp. I hope the gameplay graphic for Birth By Sleep is as nice as the cutscene.

As for KHIII, I'm thinking it's going to be on PS3 most likely. I hope it will be for ps3 rather than the wii.

» hmm

You know what would be great? If KH3 came out on both systems... Tis but a dream though.

Well, at least im set with the DS and PSP ones.

» mobile...? ehhhhh....

I don't really like mobile games because not too many people can access them...

» As awesome as that would be...

The two arent exactly similar consoles. We'd just end up with two raped versions of the game instead of one kickass one.

I think I'm just going to start preparing my wallet for the deadly blow that is buying a PS3. I would love for it to be on the Wii, and going by Square's tendancy to make games perfect before releasing them, the controls would probably be exactly what everyone's been hoping for since we first heard of the Nintendo Revolution, but I think they're going to go for graphics unfortunately.
