Jump Festa 2007 booth details. *UPDATE* New FFXIII character seen. |
Ó
Jump Festa is basically a celebration of all things anime, manga, and gaming. Hosted by Shueisha, the guys responsible for the insanely popular Shounen Jump, the event attracts Major game publishers from all over Japan. We've come to expect that companies like Bandai, Square Enix, Namco, Konami, and Capcom will make major announcements for their anime-based games or their RPGs at this event.1UP reports that this year's main highlight is the Square Enix booth. A huge chunk of their upcoming lineup was on display, including Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix, as well as Seiken Densetsu: Heroes of Mana, FF Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, and the much awaited PSP game FFVII: Crisis Core. Unfortunately FF Tactics: The Lion war, and FF XII: Revenant Wings, them Ivalice games, weren't playable.
Squeenix also had a private movie theater showing of footage from their 2007 games, mostly FFXIII-related clips, although 1UP does say that at the end of the reel there was a very brief clip of a face of an armored man grimacing at the camera while in the middle of a battlefield, followed by the text "something new coming in 2007." 1UP speculates that it might be the long rumored MMO sequel to FFXI. New trailers for Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors for the Wii was also shown.
Not to be outdone, Microsoft had a large booth showing mostly Wii games, and Microsoft was pimping Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Table Tennis, and the localized version of Viva Piñata. Sega and Sony, were showing off their Bleach titles for their respective systems.
Capcom had Monster Hunter portable 2nd. Konami had it's new Death Note games (emo alert!) and a few Yu-Gi-Oh and Prince of Tennis titles. Bandai Namco was also there in full force, with about 42 different Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, and Tales of -insert word here- games.
Given that the TGS FF Versus XIII trailer took a while before it was made public, we're guessing that it'll take a while before we see that supposed FFXI trailer that 1UP is speculating about. We're currently raiding/scouring YouTube and other video sharing sites to see if there any interesting clips and videos of the event that got leaked. We'll update you if we find some treasure. Stay tuned.
For images of the booths (in this case the Square-Enix one) you can go here.
Gamefront.de reports that at Jump Festa 2007 new trailers for FFXIII were shown on the showfloor. In the new trailer, a new character for Final Fantasy XIII was seen. A blond motorcycle-riding man wearing a Bandana was featured. We'll update you when more news breaks.

Its Nice to be................................
FIRST...!!!!!!
Square Enix and RPG's... I'm there.
I think this game will make PSP outsells DS, for at least one month, just like X360 did with PS2 with the "Blue Dragon" thing. This is huge man, this is huge, FFT is ons of the most lovable and adorable PS1 titles. I'm shaking and I can't wait to put my fingers on this game. I've been playing FFT Advance on GBsP for long time ago (ok, I have the original game and my DS but use only one console to play is amazing...) and I NEED this remake. And if this does not work on 1.5 with DevHook, I'll buy a new PSP just for play this game... Man, this totally awesome!
death note isn't emo
strangle it, broham got milk?
FAKE
how about you people first learn what the series, Death Note is about; its a anime about murdering people not slicing their wrists and such.
"Not to be outdone, Microsoft had a large booth showing mostly Wii games, "...
According to IGN editor on CC:FF VII, -
"Taken strictly on technical merits, Crisis Core is the most impressive PSP game I've ever played. In fact, with the PSP's small screen providing an assist, I'd go so far as to say that Crisis Core looks better than most PS2 games out there.
During cinematic scenes, the character models are detailed and fully animated. Battles contain screens with double digit enemies, and giant bosses. All that, and full voice, wihtout any pauses for loading!
The Ifreet boss was particularly impressive. In addition to showing off gorgeous fire effects, with Ifreet himself engulfed in flames as he fights, at one point during the demo, Ifreet cast a full-motion-video based summon spell of his own. The game managed to switch into and out of the full motion video sequence without turning to a blank screen.
Crisis Core seems almost too technically sound to be a PSP game. It also appears to have some of the highest production values yet seen in a portable game. A trailer for the game shown in the Square Enix closed theater space had real time cinematic sequences featuring the likes of Cloud and Aerith, along with quality CG sequences.
Personally, I think all the "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" products released so far have been second rate. But Crisis Core looks so good that it could turn things around on its own. It all depends, of course, on how compelling a game Square Enix manages to put together in the end. They've waited this long, so let's hope they don't rush things and end up giving us a game worthy of the FFVII name."
Thanks for the post man, I can't wait for crisis core!!! and fft!
there is absulutly nuthing emo about death note..

"although 1UP does say that at the end of the reel there was a very brief clip of a face of an armored man grimacing at the camera while in the middle of a battlefield, followed by the text "something new coming in 2007."
In the end they showed clips from Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix+, and that armor guy was one of the three unknown knights from the secret trailer of KH2, the clip was just taken from the new secret trailer of KH2:FM+.
Though, the placement of the text (I heard it was something like "New Project Starting In 2007" or the like) could mean that they are A) developing Kingdom Hearts 3 or some other KH game (Chain of Memories like semi-spin off) because the text was shown so quickly after KH2:FM+ clips or B) it was in the end of the reel, so it could've meant ANY new, still unannounced game and not have anything to do with Kingdom Hearts. I hope it's the former, though. Kingdom Hearts
