Japanese newspaper hints on new Final Fantasy game |

Now here's some interesting news... We all know that the much-talked about Square Enix Party 2007 will be held in Makuhari Messe in Japan on May 12 and 13, and at one time, Square Enix has also mentioned that fans will be treated to a lot of surprises during the event. While the party is still two months away, Square Enix is already dropping hints of what those surprises may be.
Japanese daily newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun, has recently run a full-page announcement for the said party. What's interesting about the advertisement is that it somehow refers to a new Final Fantasy game. Please pardon the translation as you all know fluent we are in Japanese-Babelfish, but this is how the print reads (if anyone can read Japanese, please feel free to give us a more accurate translation. It would be much appreciated):
The evolution will never stop, the series continues [... ] and then Final Fantasy that nobody knows will enter in scene.
The announcement also features the designs and logos of all previously-released and previously-revealed-but-yet-to-be-released Final Fantasy video games such as Rings of Fatefor the DS, and Crystal Bearersfor the Wii.
Well, the legendary series is now on its 20th year of existence, so a development of this magnitude may actually be very fitting. So what do you think guys? Is a new Final Fantasy game coming soon? We hope we all finally get the real deal on this matter by May.

I just hope this new FF is the same one the rumors where talking about, a spinoff of another FF for the PSP...

the only FF i played was 7 on ps1 and that turn based fighting bored me rigid, but i stuck with it until i got to that city where you had to keep swapping disc 1 and 2 as you walked round it, that was the last straw for me and i have never played one since,
FF style, depth and graphics with DMC action would be pretty awesome

so just judging on past history, ff13 is on the ps3.

although they are using unreal 3.0 in conjunction, so maybe it is slightly adaptable.

その進化は、終わらない。
For 20 years, from its first release to this year, the evolution of the RPG, Final Fantasy, has not end.
そして、誰も知らないファイナルファンタジーが登場する。
And now, a Final Fantasy no one has known is born.

They're most likely referring to the games that are listed there. Those are the Final Fantasies that we do not know; we know their existence, but we haven't played them.

I assume means unlike revolutionize (like FFXI) they're going to take maybe XII to the next level?
"And now, a Final Fantasy no one has known is born"
So it's brand spankin new, no rumor or speculation have guessed it before. hmmm, i'll say it now, expect it to be multi-platform. With Wii and DS having spin-offs.

FF7 remake EXCLUSIVELY for the 360. Square has said now for ages, that the only way they would remake ff7 would be if it could not be played on the platform...Now that Squeenix has announced they intend to support all platforms equally, I think this is a real possiblilty. Further, it falls right in line with the fractured method with which they have released the compilation of Final Fantasy VII (each game has been on a different platform).
Yeah, I know people will think I'm crazy, but seriously a couple days ago people would have called me a nutcase for suggesting DMC4 would show on the 360...
Just to be clear, I am not entirely in favor of this possibility
But I'm thinking IF the remake is in the works, this could be the tradeoff (a very heavy one, in my view) that would allow Sony to maintain exclusivity on FF13 and Versus 13

and to muggles, no never would need to go back to a previous disk on final fantasy 7 except when you are trying to load a save from some level that did not match the disk, EG you are using disk 2 when your save still is in disc 1. anyways i really hope square remake Xenogears for ps3 or psp, those xenosaga's are crap.

Point is I am all about quality and not quantity. Ever since the companies merged I think the quality has gone south. Ya the graphics are sweet, but the game quality leaves something to be desired.
I understand the desire to immerse themselves in the different mediums such as 360, ps3, ds, gba.. etc. etc... to make the all mighty dollar, but please SE I hope FFXII was not a sample of things to come.
Other than that May can not come soon enough. I hope what they are presenting will bring back that excitement to playing a new FF game.
