Media Create - Image 1Ok, this is getting old. The Xbox 360 beat the PlayStation 3 in Japan. Again. Oh, and the Wii beat their numbers. Combined. Also the same old story. But just in case you guys wanted to know.

In case you were living under a rock, you should know that the Xbox 360 has been outselling the PlayStation 3 since last month. I wonder just for how much longer a price drop can keep the Xbox 360 floating in Japan.

Then again, they made a good move focusing on RPGs for the region, so there's a good chance we'll see this trend continue all the way till Christmas.

In handheld news, sales of the DS lite dropped from the previous week's 57k to almost 32k. Seems like more people have heard of the new DSi and decided the Lite's passé, and that a camera's worth losing a few hours in battery life.

Here are the numbers in Japan for the week of October 12:
  • DS Lite - 31,914
  • PSP - 23,901
  • Wii - 22,877
  • Xbox 360 - 7,763
  • PS2 - 6,982
  • PS3 - 5,734

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

QUIT IT with the weekly sales numbers already. Even monthly doesn't matter.

Quarterly figures are key!

Lol, it is just so funny how things are going right now. Before when the xbox360 used to be the last one on that list no one complained or anything.

Now since it has beaten the PS3 quite a few times, people wanna turn their face to other things, such as quarterly, yearly and so on.

It is just so funny +D.

» For how long?

Well I think the xbox 360 isn't going to hold this much longer because the sales are dropping now. It is quite weird because Japanese people tend to buy electronics made by Japanese or at least Asian companies.

» Yeah

I agree with Cortador. I only own the PS3, think it's the best console by far, and dislike what the 360 is doing to the gaming industry, but ISOHaven is just being a fanboy now.

Microsoft is doing things right in Japan, while SONY has their heads stuck in the sand.

I hope Sony get's some more RPG exclusives, or they will lose Japan too.

» This is kinda good news for Sony in awkward ways

But anyway of that this has been goin back down though the sales are starting to even out again after the price cut this is getting interesting eh?

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

@RommelTJ - How am I being a fanboy if I've ALWAYS disliked weekly sales?

Go back on this site as far as you can. I HAVE ALWAYS STATED THAT WEEKLY SALES ARE CRAP.

Got anything else to add to that?

by Cortador - 2008-10-17 08:16
» Maybe...

Well, i think that we will still see a big boost until the end of the year with the release of The Last Remnant and Star Ocean.

» Kudos to Microsoft

I'm a proud owner of all three systems, and I gotta hand it to the big MS.

They've finally gotten people in Japan to buy their system!

More systems sold means more games for us!

And remember fanboys, If MS gets some more games, there may be a chance that like Bioshock, they might get ported to the PS3 with extra goodies..

by kraft - 2008-10-17 11:12
» hmm

With Tekken 6 now coming out on 360 theres not really much exclusive games to keep the ps3 selling strong in Japan

by kraft - 2008-10-17 11:14
» oh

and im sure the DS will sell well again when Chrono Trigger Comes out next month

by lavino - 2008-10-17 11:29
» yeah! screw these sales reports!!!

I just got myself a PS3 today so I have collected them all finally. Damn store doesn't have a copy of Socom though so I am stuck with no game

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

PSN?

Burnout?

by Mister Common Sense - 2008-10-17 15:33
» lol

Of course, only quarterly numbers matter now that the 360 has outsold the PS3 by a wide margin for almost a month now.

Of course when the 360 beats the PS3 in quarterly, ISO flip-flop will say only the yearly sales matter. And so on and so forth.

I really would like to see the PS3 selling better. It's price is hurting it, regardless of the good games and everything else it can do.

by fearlubu - 2008-10-17 19:48
» screw bioshock

if it takes nearly a damn year for it to port with slightly better graphics then phuck et (turns out that theres a restaurant in thailand named this).

IF they port a game, i dont just want a crappy port, but one that utilizes the PS3's strengths, lik wat SE is doing with FFXIII (but vice versa)

by ISOHaven - 2008-10-17 20:59
» WTF!?!?!?!?!

"only quarterly numbers matter now"

You are such an illiterate f@ck. I already mentioned that quarterly sales ALWAYS MATTERED. Not just now.

Try again idiot.

If the 360 beats the PS3 in a quarter then they are ahead for that quarter. That's the way it's always been measured and always will be.

Such simple ideals wasted on such moronic idiots.

by Mister Common Sense - 2008-10-22 03:18
» .

Then it looks like the 360 will beat the PS3 in sales for this quarter. Does that make you upset, little boy?

Of course, you're the only one that cares about sales.

by ISOHaven - 2008-10-22 04:35
» WTF!?!?!?!?!

"Does that make you upset, little boy?"

Why are you asking this? In the comment to which you replied I already explained that.

What exactly did you not understand about:

If the 360 beats the PS3 in a quarter then they are ahead for that quarter. That's the way it's always been measured and always will be.

The answer to your question is "obviously not". Any idiot would have been able to figure that out on their own. So I guess the good news is, you're not an idiot. But then again, you're dumber then an idiot.
