After the delay due to Golden Week in Japan, we're back on schedule for Japanese sales. This week didn't see much change at all. Although it should be noted that the #1 ranked title from last year's Golden Week would have been the only game to even break the top 10 this year. Software sales are high due to the unbelievable success of the DS!

NDS Tetris DS - 160,148 [378,247]
NDS Brain Training 2 - 112,392 [2,164,256]
PS2 World Soccer: Winning Eleven 10 - 100,860 [561,409]
NDS Brain Training - 84,075 [2,136,857]
NDS Animal Crossing: Wild World - 83,564 [2,645,481]
NDS Pokemon Ranger - 69,415 [496,834]
NDS English Training DS - 59,614 [998,343]
NDS Mario Kart DS - 37,037 [1,353,596]
GBA Mother 3 - 34,591 [291,428]
PS2 Dragon Quest: Yangus - 33,279 [215,237]

DS Lite - 161,010 [1,383,391]
PSP - 37,946 [3,403,835]
PS2 - 32,030 [22,299,001]
NDS - 24,428 [6,502,520]
GBA SP - 7,144 [15,624,650]
GBM - 3,830 [500,938]
X360 - 2,019 [116,410]
GCN - 1,460 [4,100,969]
GBA - 87 [??]
XBX - 44 [474,453]

Absolutely no new titles on the list, although I don't think any new titles launched during Golden Week... The regular DS went down again for some reason. The supply situation there must be really wierd. It was at only 8k two weeks ago, then it reached 42k, and now it's back down to 24k! Game Boy Micro used last week as the week it reached 500,000 units sold. Impressive for a product that was really meant as a temporary experiment.

Nintendo owns 8 of the top 10 software spots, 7 with the DS. Sony owns 2 of the top 10 slots with the PS2. Tetris DS is showing awesome legs, I'm pretty sure it's doing better over there than in North America. No real milestones were reached, but English Training, Pokemon Ranger, and Tetris DS should have one next week! PSP should also reach the 3.5 million milestone soon.

wow,the king has returned.

i guess this just goes to show people want something new and different.Good to see Sony is following and microsoft is taking the more traditional approach.

much like the psp/ds compliment each other so will the ps3/wii.

maybe now the "port era" will be over and each system will have unique content.

your a tool and everybody knows it.

i would value your opinions, but since your not a real gamer your opinion doesn't matter to me.

if the psp isn't making you happy enough, well there are other forums.

so go there and leave people that care about the psp in peace.

» um

how the hell does the ps2 continue to be on top? doesnt everyone already have one of these?

» It always was the King of Handhelds

Nintendo has always ruled the Portable market ??

What do you the king has returned?

- Just look -

Portables:

Nintendo (only in japan, in the west it's a different story)

Sony

Consoles:

Sony

MS

Nintendo

They are two seperate markets. Just because the posters likes to put them together doesn't mean they are the same. Imgine if they start puting the Ipod on this list and put the songs as software sales. Think about it, GBA numbers would kill the PS2 numbers even.

Well it's nice to see the 360 is finally doing better than the GameCube over there.

theprofessor, ipod isnt a video game machine, both consoles and portables are video game machines with the same market and the same developers. get real. and nintendo is beating sony because the ds is beating both the sony brand consoles (psp and ps2).
