Japan: Halo 3 tops the charts |
Ó
Considering that the Xbox 360 hasn't sold nearly as much as the PlayStation 3 or the Wii in Japan, it's a huge achievement for Halo 3 to top Media Create's charts. It's up and away the top seller there, with 58,670 units sold for the week ending on September 30.Halo 3 sold about 2,000 units more than the runner up, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Toki. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is still a heavyweight on third place. Other games that have debuted on top 10 in Japan is Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the PS3 (9th) and Bleach Blade Battlers (6th).
Interestingly enough, there aren't any Wii games on top ten. It probably won't bump off Nintendo, but perhaps Halo 3 has found favor for the Xbox 360 in Japan?

yay... Master Chief takes down the Charzard or whatever it's called. ... though I doubt this trend will continue. There was nothing else that week to buy for them. Wonder if any of em bought one of those official Halo xbox's.
a huge woOT to Oblivion. Good luck Sony peeps that game stole 200+ hours of my life away :)
Isn't that close to the amount of 360's in Japan? lol So pretty soon they'll max out on the amount of copies that they can sell in Japan and drop back down to their usual spot at the bottom. lol MS will never amount to anything in Japan.
it's 1/4 of the 360s in japan. They can only sell about 6,000 more before every 360 owner has one. (well they might sell 25 every month if every future 360 owner gets it...lol) Oh and what console sold more than everything else combined this month? Yep, good times for sony, and things can only get better after the holidays... PS FTW!
I think the one point overlooked here is that the sales of Halo 3 confirm the Hype and strategy that was Halo = Xbox. As a single game the number of copies sold worldwide shows that more xboxes were sold as a result of this games release. This is not my scenario for world domination because I remain realistic and 300 million USD is a lot of money, BUT, if this game was playable on a playstation 2 and 3 then sales would probably have been 10 times higher without any effort. Halo sells xbox hardware and this is something that demands respect for the developers Bungie. Xbox in Japan will never replace the PS but with games like Halo then there is room for xbox next to PS. Forget the fanboys/girls those hardcore gamers with money have both consoles. Its the game not the machine that is wanted. If the games we want are exclusive to a console then we need that console.
wow. thats more truth than i think some will be able to handle... but f'em.
According to VGChartz.net, ~450 million '360s have been sold in Japan, so they've got a ways to go. Why the domineering attitude? Born underendowed down there? ;) Oh, and VGChartz says about 60,000 copies of Halo 3 were sold in Japan the week of the 30th, not 7140.
Japan is nothing anymore... Sure they brought gaming to the west and that is really the only reason MS gives a damn over there...out of respect. From a marketing standpoint, they could sink into the ocean and the video game market would barely notice....
450 million 360's sold in Japan? Tell me that was a typo and you're not a gullible retard.
all you people are mis-informed! about everything! Halo3 did not beat POKEMON and CRISIS CORE in Japan. these are just blasphemies created by Microsoft Fans, Employees or anyone related to them so that the general public would believe that Halo 3 became popular in the land of the GAMES even if it did NOT. this is information manipulation as its simplest form.
http://www.famitsu.com/game/rank/top30/1210996_1134.html as you can see on the chart of famitsu there not a single xbox 360 game. if halo 3 did get the top spot it wouldn't be out of the chart that fast.
if a japanese gamer say that american games are just copycats of japanese games and and from a marketing standpoint americans are so gullible that they are only interested stupid violent games. microsoft can take all your money making you buy xbox 360 for the hundredth time because its keeps dying while us japanese gamers enjoy wii ds and ps3 and we will not care. oh btw what do you think if japan stop porting its games to foreign markets and sue all japanese game clones? no more Final fantasy or gran turismo or jrpg.
of course they are fooling gullible americans. MS has been fooling you for a long time now. they have milked you and still want more. 450m ftw! of course its never true.
its a copy and paste job. they copied famitsu's recent chart and put halo 3 on TOP. now why would they do that?
is sony paying you or something?
Wenas a Todos !! Alguno de vosotros a visto Halo3 o halo 2 para PSP o PS3 ?? si es asi me puedes mandar un link a mi e-mail : NewsCaffe@gmail.com Gracias !!!
sony paying me? i hope so! but apparently not possible im just enraged because i how the US market is being played by MS. even making paying a japanese website to report something untrue. xbox 360 only have 500,000 plus sales/userbase in Japan and a big part of those xbox 360's are exported to other Asian countries hence smaller userbase that actually lived in japan. and that userbase is not big enough to actually make a game sell to the top of the chart.
