Jack Thompson ordered to explain why he shouldn't be disbarred federally |
Listed in: News Tags: Florida, Jack Thompson
Jack Thompson was already disbarred in Florida back in September of 2008. 10 months after Florida, that disbarment from the practice of law might just go federal. Judge Federico Moreno of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida has issued a court order to Thompson, directing him to explain why his Florida disbarment should not be extended to the federal level. To clarify, Thompson's disbarment kept him from practicing law in Florida, the awarding state. However, his license is still admitted in the US District Court.
No specific instance was given to clarify what exactly provoked the judge to issue such an order to Thompson. But it is a fact that Thompson sent a reply to Judge Moreno, an e-mail wherein it appeared as if he was mocking the Judge:
I make this request/demand because of your prior improper placement of me on a terrorists watch list in retaliation for my sending you a letter about judicial misconduct on your watch. Even the Deputy US Marshals thought that was absurd. They laugh now every time I show up at the courthouse asking, “Are you still a dangerous terrorist, Mr. Thompson?” Funny stuff.
Now you have entered a show cause order demanding that I explain why you should not disbar me from the federal court, and in doing so you have told me to spend at least $30,000 to make my case in producing documents all of which the Florida Supreme Court has and [can] give you free of charge...If I get sent to Gitmo as a “terrorist,” then please send the stuff there. I’ll be facing Tallahassee in prayer several times a day as required.

Someone does not need to die because they don't like violent video games, this is a free country and he is just expressing his right of free speech.
Live with it.
It's not like he is getting anything done anyways.
Besides that, you are the only reason for getting mad at anything, because you don't like what he says but yet you are still compelled to read it.
Don't like it, don't read it.

He sounds like a loony!

And does that picture remind anyone else of Vice City? Just the palm trees and his shirt (of course probably taken in Florida haha)

Why? Because now he's gone too far and can't go back. Either he gives up his crusade (it's too late already) or he fights until the bitter end. Most of us would have said, "okay, disbarrment? Well, I suppose I'll go back to work then." But no, he said, to Hell with it all.
Just from the picture, he looks like he's pretty old. He's probably well off from being a lawyer. Who knows, he might even be getting paid for this continuing farce of a crusade. He just, strikes me as a senior citizen who is ready to retire, but prefers to keep his crusade as a hobby.

But he should really donate money to an good charity like you said. That Would probably make people hate him less...

I actually think the most ironic thing in the world would be for Mr Thompson to be murdered by someone cosplaying a games character. Even Jack would have to raise an eyebrow and appreciate the irony before the axe fell ^_^

Jack is by every means a$$hole deep to a giraffe in the 70 percentile. Money for nothing, living off the listless tit of the common man, while hiding behind his religion to validate his behavior. That's why I left Florida and will only visit for about 4 days at a time (about once every 15 years). Illinois is no better, but at least we shoot our scam artists.
I mean, wasn't there some kind of legislation passed (not to long ago) prohibiting stupid lawsuits? you know, I spilled coffee on my ***** while driving and now you owe me a gazillion dollars because I am stupid, kind of lawsuits?
As apposed to shooting or otherwise dealing death to Jack, why doesn't a news organization go and hound the hell out of him and uncover all the dope and hookers and kiddy porn scams this guy has been doing for the last 20 years and let him die the slow & humiliating way all the Republican hypocrites are doing now?
NOW THERE would be some justice...

It's like Nazi medical research. Sure, the end result is admirable, and sure, you may agree with the spirit of the cause, but you just have to draw the line at vivisecting a twin to see what happens to the other. He's a pratt who is taking what is actually (if you look at the underlying foundation) a pretty noble and reasonable cause, and making it into something to be fought against simply because he's so damn insufferable and offensive. He needs to die if for no other reason than it'll help the reasonable cause of proper video game regulation.
