Imagine Publishing: online is the way to go |

Marketing Director Damian Butt of Imagine Publishing says that this year, their company will be pushing toward the online community this 2007. This is in response to the extensive growth for the demand for gaming news and information. If you don't know them, they are the guys claimed to be behind the Grand Theft Auto 4 (Xbox 360, PS3) hoax.They will be more focused on online news delivery than their print publishing side, although they foresee a huge gap they must bridge in order to succeed in their move. The company's online presence will be magnified from a very small, insignificant online base to a "pretty sizeable online portfolio."
The magazine publisher will go head-to-head against already established gaming sites, such as Gamespot, IGN, and Eurogamer, since they entered the online market a bit too late. Butt believes that their news publishing could prove a step up for the current news delivery model today.
Butt stresses that this year is the company's critical moment, saying, "If we'd left it another year, we'd be way behind technologically, but online's all to play for. There's no real dominant force."
People are not buying as much magazines as before, deciding that most crucial and up-to-date developments can be found online. Demos can now be directly downloaded online, instead of having to rely on magazines to provide the demos on disc.
For the moment, Imagine Publishing specializes in independent titles but will move to official licensed titles when the opportunities arise.
