How PS1 games will work on the PS3 |

We did point out once that you won't really need a PS3 to download and play your PS1 titles -- thanks to the PSP emulation plan. However, Phil Harrison from the PS3 conference said that "PS1 downloads will initially be for play only on the PSP, but will later work on the PS3 when the emulation software is available." You can, however, play these games on both the PSP and the PS3, and they will actually be playable by 2007. All the other titles from the previous consoles will be playable on the PS3, obviously. We didn't expect, however, what Phil Harrison said concerning the visual enhancements that would be rendered on all the previous titles. He says, "They are as exactly as they were." Put bluntly, the PS3 won't offer any visual enhancements to the games.
Additionally, you can download your PS1 games up to five PS3s, regardless of whether it's on someone else's PS3, but you should use your own account.

Perhaps Sony needs to take more than only one page from the hack/brew communities and see what more they can do.
Before flame wars begin I am vaguely aware of the possibility that indiviual games may have been tweaked.

Im not sure where we came up with this idea that we should recieve services for free or that if we buy a game on PSX that the version for PSP should cost nothing because that makes no sense. Try taking your copy of Madden 07 back to the retailer and saying you want copies for all the systems. Im sure that will work out really well for you.
If you think about it what they are offering here is an AMAZING opportunity for all the PSX lovers. You can get classic games (many with 30-40 hours playability once through) for ONLY $15 AT THE MOST!!! That is F'n crazy!! How about you go buy the Valkerye Profile port? yeah sorry $40 and all you get extra are some new movies. Great game, but I wish they had just emulated later.
I for one will be buying a straight ass load of PSX titles for my PSP when this service comes out. There are so many good Squaresoft games it makes my head spin. That is the one thing I feel the PSP is missing, good RPGs.
You are buying a SERVICE as well as a product. They do the conversion for you, and in return you pay a minimal amount for a classic blockbuster game. (I really hope they emulate IQ, that game ROCKED!) Stop complaining because you already own one form of the game, you're being little B!T@HE$

If we will be "downloading" PS1 games on PS3 when the emulation is available later, then that means I am not going to be able to play my PS1 game CD on PS3...!!
Wasn't it sony that hyped up all the fanboys saying that they will be able to play thousads of games from PS1 n PS2 on their PS3s right of the box?

i own some ps1 games that i want to play in my psp or in my ps3, obiously i cant get them in my memory stick right from the cd but the emulator should be free.
i dont want to pay twice for my metal gear solid vr missions I'll better play the in my ps1.
-so i think they should be free or lets say $5 is still free an many more people will buy them.
