Games have reached new heights in the recent years when it comes to graphics. From our lovable pixelated brothers Mario and Luigi back in the 80's to the games that are currently coming out now the graphics never stop getting better. So whats the next step you may ask? It seems that IO2Technology is working on that one as we speak.Thus far they have managed to display 30" diagonal holographic images in 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. The latest version (2nd generation) of the Heliodisplay M2 is also interactive, allowing the users to control the image with their hands. In the video, Ritual Entertainment shows a video of SiN Episode characters displayed on the Heliodisplay M2. Holodeck displays coming from a R2D2 projector lookalike. Apparently the unit is available for rent or to buy.

you are qan absolute moron. this a toptally different technology. but it says it hooks up with regular cables for video games and tv and digi boxes, also pc/mac, so i guess you could play games on it. however is that smoke coming out of it?
This is so crappy. This is not holographic at all, but just a compact beamer joined together with a fog-generator often found on stage. Oh my. And this has nothing to do AT ALL with Playstation, PS PORTABLE or ANYTHING OF INTEREST. Good news. Great Site. Nerds.
its about 3 years old (the technology) - and nobody really buys into it because the contrast and brightness sucks
it's impressive for 10 sec, but the res. is awful. it's just a tv projector on a smoke screen, and the picture is shaking alot due to air movement.
I think R2D2 was better, even if it was monochrome, it was more stable and it was in 3D (not on a 2D smoke screen).

Anyone ever watch that old sci-fi show SeaQuest or whaterver it was called? The used this same type of deal regularly on that show years ago...

Disney has been doing the same thing forever. Instead of using a fog machine they shoot a projector on water. It looks alot better at disney, its not funky looking. I was all excited about this till i seen the video!!!

all it is is a smal box blowing out steam will a light flashes the images into it. The reason why everyone thinks they are interacting with it is because thier hands are blocking the steam and moving it around.
Phillips is coming out with someting way beter...
A 3D Tv, it has a computer in it that will translate the pictures you see into 3D models... you dont even need a new type of service to watch it

Well, this technology might have been around for a while, but the emphasis on it by these companies tells us one thing, THEY unlike most of the sophmoronic BSers that comment here, are doing something about it. It's easy to come in here and tell someone to "kill themselves" for making a comment that might not seem intelligent to someone UNintelligent, but it gets old.
As for this holographic concept , it can be used in other ways than gaming, yes, but it's nice to know that they are at least focusing on it.
If I had that I'd do the old star wars bit. "help me Obi-wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."
this is more than just some "smoke and light". this technology also functions as a touchscreen and it doesnt make any gas. all it does is take in air and put it out illumated with different colors.
