Hardcore in every aspect - Vin Diesel was hooked on D&D |
Ó
Vin Diesel has made a reputation of being one of Hollywood's sickest
action stars, with tough, bad-ass roles in movies such as The Fast and
The Furious, the upcoming Fast and Furious, and of course, The
Chronicles of Riddick. But did you know that this hardcore superstar
was once a D&D player? My respect for the guy just shot through the
roof.Yes, you read that right - Vin Diesel was once hooked on Dungeons and Dragons. Before he was the mighty Riddick or the tough car-lord Dom Toretto, Vin Diesel busied himself playing the pen-and-paper RPG and exploring imaginary dungeons. Ars Technica was lucky to get this neat piece of info from him in an interview.
"Before games were able to assimilate a Dungeons & Dragons experience," Diesel explained, "it was Dungeons & Dragons. So, where did all my video game appreciation come from? Probably Gary Gygax. That's where it started. Anybody from that generationÂ… that was also around during the Dungeons & Dragons revolutionÂ… indulging in this phenomenon that basically serviced young imaginations in this fantasy world are, I think, gamers to the core."
You can catch this hardcore action star / D&D geek in his starring role in Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) from Starbreeze. For the full interview, you can check it out through the source link below.

I randomly downloaded the new Wheelman and Chronicles of Rid***** demos, both of which feature his voice and likeness. Dude's everywhere all of a sudden, lol.
so it's like, instead of acting, he's actually role-playing
Diesel actually founded Tigon Studios to handle games tying in with his movies to ensure they were good games.
HOW'S THAT FOR ADDING TO THE RESPECT METER?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tigon_Studios
And he didn't disappoint.
The first Chronicles of riddrick on the original Xbox was really, really good!
Seriously, major props to Vin Diesel!
The knowledge of him playing D&D is really old news. I don't even follow this guy and I know it. Something about him having a tattoo of his Drows name somewhere on his body.
Also who cares about your respect for him? I mean at least he isn't writing articles for a website and posting them in the wrong section just to get more views on it.

and Chuck Norris..
Cannot stand the guy.
I always liked this guy. Now its even more :)
Now thats awsome! I'm a D&D fan as well been playing EQ1-2 since they launched. Can't wait for Dragon Age to come out thats gonne be a freaking awsome RPG!
who gives a crap what you say lol?
In answer to your question, ALL (at the time of writing) the people above your pointless post seem to care.
Now go away.
What are you a white supremacist? Telling a black man he cannot voice his opinion and to go away. Haven't you ever heard of Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks? We aint' standin' on the back of the bus then we ain't standin there now. So I suggest you take your bigotry else where.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA How was I meant to know you're black, you knob?
Anyway, I wouldn't even care if you were green with purple stripes... GO AWAY!
say wut u want, but he makes Rid*****!
Ridd1ck
come on QJ w/ that censor BS!! /fail
"it doesn't matter you roll a 12 or 1 (in a 1d12)... Winning is winning"
I've known about this for years. The guy is a 2nd Ed player and has the name of his Forgotten Realms character name tattooed on his arm. This is nothing new. Next thing you know QJ will be reporting that he's gay a few years from now when he came out of the closet around the same time he admitted to being a D&D player to the public.
