Old school games being planned for next-gen releases seem to be the latest trend. Of course, this is not something new but the amount of IPs being resurrected is really worth mentioning. Today, you can add another one to that list.We just got word that the Terminator franchise has just been transferred to the hands of privately funded company Halcyon Co. Aside from the planned movie Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, the company is also planning to release a new video game title based from the said film.
The new games division of Halcyon Co. will be headed by former Disney and Bellrock Media executive Peter Levin as acting CEO. The position for the VP of Production will be manned by Cos Lazouras who was recently involved with Vin Diesel's game production house Tigon Studios.
"When you own the intellectual property and have the creative control, you can make sure you're publishing a top-tier video game that will satisfy the needs of the marketplace," commented Levine when asked why Halcyon opted to create the new video game title rather than outsource it to more established development studios.
Specific console releases were still not revealed but Halcyon Co. did mention that the game will be released "on all formats, including next-generation consoles, PC, and mobile, [it] is expected to hit the marketplace at the same time as the film, which is slated for release in summer 2009."
