Hackers embed trojan into Atlus.com, virus may have spread to visitors |

The dark side of hacking rears its ugly head once more, spreading
malware all over internet. This time, Atlus.com falls victim to a
"third-party entity" which apparently managed to hack into the site,
embedding the dreaded trojan virus into the system. What's worse is
that the virus may have spread to the visitors of the said site, giving
gamers from all over the world a very, very bad day.Atlus estimates that visitors between 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. PST yesterday may have gotten infected. There aren't any confirmed infections just yet, but naturally, they won't be able to go report the infection if their computers are all screwed up, right? "The faith and trust of our fans is of the utmost importance to us, a responsibility we don't take lightly," Atlus said in a statement.
Atlus.com is still down and they're still trying to sort the problem out and who may have caused it. Fear not, you can still get Atlus news and updates right here on QJ!

Why atlus? They're one of the truest gaming companies around. They should have put a virus on the site that makes all those PONIEZ games for the DS.

yeah one of the few advantages of macs is that they tend to not get viruses as easy as PC's. However, PC's may get viruses, but we also get a huge amount of 3rd party software and games that totally offsets the whole virus BS..

So far NOD32 is the BEST!

While NOD32 and AVG are usually at the top of the list. NOD usually detects at least 95% of the stuff thrown at it

I might have been thinking of something else, probably Kaspersky. That always scores pretty high
And that's only one test, and it's only a success rate test, not a general ranking from best to worst. Norton is usually on the bottom of those because of how slow and intrusive it is. Hate that one too

/b/ is just a bunch of immature idiots that spend most of their time looking at porn.

One question to some of yous. How do you find the time to find so much info on something as benign as Anti-virus program efficiency? Just subscribe to porn, don't hide em from your Moms and you'll probably avoid most viruses. Oh and Limewire, don't use that!

Programs and Features -> Norton -> Uninstall -> REMOVE ALL
Good bye Norton
Anyone reading this, please do yourself a favor and look into NOD. You'll be glad you did

Windows would get targeted, it IS a huge platform, Mac isn't "betteR" just because it "doesn't get viruses", a virus is just a small program that takes certain actions, those actions lead to things like deleting data etc, Mac can get the same sort of program, however they are less common because the amount of Mac users compared to Windows is tiny, even tinier is the amount of Linux users, however Linux can also get said "Viruses", however it is less common.
But all in all, Microsoft sucks, I hate them, they've never produced anything that I've liked.

the satisfaction of bringing a website down? (is that even fun?)
did they get money to hack a website?
or did they get a trophy saying, "This No-Life Award is Presented to (insert name here), for Hacking a Website." and maybe a sticker saying "NERD" or "NO-LIFE" or "I LIVE IN MY PARENTS BASEMENT."
so what exactly did they gain from all this?
P.S. i might have to cut my internet connection for the next few months. XD

Linux is not for the newbies. Despite what Ubuntu will say, it's STILL not completely newbie-friendly.

Just out of curiosity, what Anti-Virus program is it?

100% agree with you. It's just a brilliant program. Granted it requires some (relatively low) IQ to set up and operate the software to a specific need but it's great!
I have used Norton, McAfee, AVG, and Kaspersky. Norton just plain sucked. McAfee was not bad at finding some viruses but it still sucked since it slowed my computer. AVG, installed it..deleted it on the same day (so I didn't quite really experience it to say much). Kaspersky (Gaming Edition) It was perfect for playing games. It has the ability to be completely closed like a normal software with no hassle (except the hassle from windows warning you that your protection status is at high risk.) I didn't quite feel safe since it didn't pick up some of the files that are obviously packing a trojan. NOD32 is fast and simple.(it does slow down a bit but only when scanning a new large file that may contain a threat). It picked up nearly everything including all the "tools."

This is why you have package managers like Synaptic, APT, YUM, Zypper...
Makes life much more enjoyable.
I'd say a typical case of rtfm.
