Guinness Book of Gaming Records anoints Lara Croft |
Ó
This isn't the first time that Lara Croft has received honor in the Guinness Book of Records Gamer's Edition. Last 2006, the female adventurer earned the title of "most successful human video game heroine." This year, Guinness anoints Lara Croft with a double-page spread.
What's in it? Lots of tips, trivia and information about everything Lara Croft, including the Tomb Raider series of games and motion pictures. One interesting entry is that of the fastest Tomb Raider completion time - the award goes to a certain Stacy Corron who finished the original game in only 2 hours, 39 minutes and 30 seconds.
Also in the tribute are other goodies, such as the directions to a hidden treasure room in the now classic Tomb Raider 2 and Toby Gard's famous line "mouse slipped, honest, Gov!" - referring to designing the finer proportions of our favorite heroine. Oh, and speaking of which, she was originally meant to be named Laura Cruz to appeal to a wider US audience. Thankfully, her current name stuck.

"Laura Cruz to appeal to a wider US audience"??
I thought they spoke English in the US
They do. Maybe they meant to appeal to Mexican Americans as well? :)
Wow, I would have given it to Samus Arun, shes been around longer, and still has excellent games, the Tomb Raider series has been pretty stale lately....
The TR games have just been kicked full forced into awesomeness lately. AOD was the last straw and some feared that the final POS game was the end of Lara, but Crystal Dynamics brought her back with the awesome "Legend" and then the anniversary ed. Now theres a new one in dev and one can only hope it's even 1/2 as good as legend.
angelina... my love.
