Gran Turoismo 4 PS2

Being religious Gran Turismo fans here at QJ, we can't help but feel like yo-yo's with the news that GT4 Mobile hasn't been cancelled. With the news of the GT4 Mobile release date being slated as 'indefinite', many fans of the series have simply assumed that the game was cancelled. Developers Polyphony Digital has "categorically denied" rumours circulating around the gaming community that the title has been cancelled.

Some websites had taken a translation of a Famitsu article as evidence that GT4 Mobile had been cancelled, although we at QJ kept to the facts and said that the game had an 'indefinite' release date. "We can categorically deny all speculation which suggests that PDI is not developing a GT franchise game for the PSP," the developer said to Eurogamer today.

"In fact, we've reached the stage where a GT4 equivalent runs on the PSP hardware. However, our main focus at present, is the development and release of a GT title for the PS3 platform. Once this has been completed, we can return to, and jump-start, development for the PSP version. In regards to release dates and details, we'll be making further announcement, at a later date."

Although the Gran Turismo port to the PSP hasn't had the most smooth of transitions, it's still nice to hear that a GT title will eventually come to the PSP - we hope. Who knows, you may be better off waiting for the firmware update with the PSX emulator for PSP and play classic Gran Turismo on that.

» Enough!

It has been delayed so many times that I swear I am never playing GT again.

Really... they should re-invent the brand under a different name.

Meh GT hasnt been all that great since the first one. Now GT Legends or GTR2 (Soon to be released) with a force feedback wheel on PC is where its at.

» I think . . .

. . . that Polyphony should have payed more attention to GT Mobile than making GTHD. I hope the game is not called GT4 Moblie and it isn't a direct port. I hope GT Mobile brings an updated car roster and new tracks. And a mode all GT fans have been wanting, online. It would also be great if it had conectivity to GT5. Man, I NEED A NEW RACING SIM.

Well now with the PS3 being delayed in the PAL regions you can bet that GT4 wont be released for ages if at all seeing as they are putting all emphasis into the PS3 version

@ 10

Seriously check out GT Legends, I mean I didnt even like realistic racers until I tried it. So good it made me go out and buy a Logitech MOMO with my paltry sum of monies.

» No surprise.

Almost all of the GT games have been delayed over long periods of time. But when they do release, they are usually groundbreaking and loads of fun.

» It sucks...

I am a bit annoyed to say the least that they haven't managed to get this title out the door. This was the whole reason why I wanted my psp to start with. I can't help feeling a bit cheated tbh. Sony used this game heavlily to promote the psp and it sure got my attention.

What's next? Xbox 360 announce the next Final Fantasy and PS3 specific titles just to boast sales? Same thing, it would just be wrong...

And sorry if my english sucks but I am a swede... -

» Well at least its not 'bad' news

I also originally bought my psp so I could have GT4 (and Tekken) in my pocket. Aslong as it does come out eventually and they make a good job of it then I will be happy.

If you want a great racing sim on pc you can't go wrong with Live For Speed, its as good as it gets with the most advanced physics out there and a huge drift scene. I have just bought a new pc, upgraded my internet connection and ordered the Logitech G25 wheel (3 pedals, 900 degrees and H-shifter - $300/£200) to play this sim - so I really hope GT5 on PS3 supports clutch and H-shifter. I go by the name of Zero.Wing on LFS, give me a shout if you see me online.

Oh ye and beware of GT Legends as it installs Starforce protection http://www.glop.org/starforce/

» Lovely

Are they that shorthanded or is it that they don't believing in multitasking!??

by Ryze - 2006-10-30 06:44
» Foolish

Sony and Polyphony are treating the people who pay their bills and for their plush lifestyles, very badly.

This will eventually backfire as bad as it did for Sega with the Mega CD, 32X and Saturn, they wasted our time and money - then we lost interest in spending on them and they nearly fell through.

Sony & Polyphony should have at least released a limited multiplayer demo by now.

This is a very poor year for Sony's customer relations.
