Greenpeace's Guide to Greener Electronics |
Listed in: Tags: Greenpeace, Microsoft, Motorola, Sony, Sony Ericsson
Ó
Greenpeace has released their "Guide to Greener Electronics" which scores the 18 top manufacturers of gadgets and devices according to their policies on toxic chemicals and recycling.
Apple, which was under Greenpeace's black books for the iPhone, got a better score this time around. Among the three console manufacturers, Sony scored the best for their electronic recycling in the US.
Microsoft was third to the last because of a long history of poor practice in disposing of toxic chemicals. Nintendo was in last place because they were new to the list; Greenpeace had no references to their environment policies for their scores yet.
In top place is phone manufacturers Sony Ericsson and Samsung. Computer manufacturer Dell scores the same as Sony while Toshiba scores just below. Nokia scores about midway, while Motorola scores near the bottom.

When they decide to put a company in their report, they gave it 0 until they rush the information to them. It's some kind of diffamatory pressure.
I find it irrelevent, it would be like giving a game a score of 0 out 0f 10 because as a reviewer, you have not recieved nor asked for the game for review.
But I guess since it's greenpeace, it's ok.

All they want is to impede development by peddling the lie of global warming. Do yourself a favor, don't believe in the lie.
The green they want is your tax dollars.
Proof: (less lies here than in an inconvient truth)

With that being said, i don't mind less pollution or less energy usage, but not at the cost of quality or power.

Give me the polycarbonate imacs the plastic radios and lcd screens. If I look back at my grandpas radio and our first tv I am happy to say that todays products have saved a lot of trees.
40 years ago at school I with all of the schools students in England signed petitions to force the farming of fur to save our wild animals. today i get greenpeace idiots telling me that the farming is cruel and I should sign a new petition to stop it.
GreenPeace rally in England a fewf years ago was praised by the local police for its friendly and considerate atmosphere. The local council however complained about the excessive rubbish left behind. Empty batteries from the walkmans and radios, polystyrene bekers and refuse from MacDonalds etc etc etc.
All the money spent on their campaigns would be better used to pay people to help clean up their environments. They use million dollars boats to prevent poor fishermen to save the fish? Give the fisherman an alternative source of income and the fish lives. Sorry to rant but although many of the principles I agree with the tactics are bull. Demand alternative power 30 years ago and now today complain of visual pollution from windmills ??? Get real and get a life. If you want to help someone then do so but try to force people to do something and you meet resistance.

mercury is not toxic
used parts should not be recycled
a company should not be concerned about future generations of customers...
Greenpeace IS radical thats right. but they need to be radical to open our eyes just a little bit!
Million dollars boats to stop poor self sustaining fisherman i laugh my butt off... give a reference to that please ;)
and... no such thing as global warming... tell that your children. i wonthave to tell mine because i refuse to inherit this future.

Global warming is happening but it could be a natural cycle. Yes CO2 is high but with out this extra CO2 which greatly enhances the plantlife and harvest there would be a problem with feeding the world right now.
Recylce by all means but check the European governments that charge you money to recycle and make you use different colured bins, oh yeah, at the other end everything gets thrown into the same frigging burner. I know this for fact as I worked at the local council in Eindhoven in Holland.
DDT was banned as it was a risk to 40,000 teenage girls worldwide who might develope breast cancer. The result 1.5 million people per year worldwide die from insect related diseases as malaria which ddt could have killed.
Bring it on? and by the way I do support GreenPeace but not their tactics, they are the same tactics that Bush and Blair used to con you into a war with Irag. Its called Scare Tactics and manipulation of facts.
