Gran Turismo 4: Mobile Edition Gets An 'Indefinite' Release Date |
Ó
For some reason, Gran Turismo just ain't revving up as it should for the PSP. According to Famitsu, the game developers Polyphony Digital have confirmed that the game's release date is still indefinite as of press time. Originally, the plan was to release it in Japan during Spring 2005.This latest delay, which is not exactly new, will not only disappoint awaiting fans, but will also probably affect the PSP. This update is considered to be the latest in a number of blows coming PSP's way, following several movie companies' decision to stop producing UMD Videos for the handheld.
Nonetheless, most fans don't think the delay signifies any deep trouble for both the game and the PSP. After all, other GT titles also took a while before being officially released. Here's hoping the game is worth the wait.

So, I would also say, no, UMD is not dead. Not just yet.

Allthough toca 3 is pretty realistic, driving is more fun in GT.
Probably they delayed it, waiting for the new fw, so that they can sign it with a new key.

I mean: GT4 would pretty much be the DEATH to all other racing games (maybe except for the very popular NSF titles), and 50% of all PSP games ARE racing games.
But actually I thought GT4 for PSP would be dead already. So I am at least glad to hear ANY news of it. Well, once the PSX emulator gets released, I can play GT1 and GT2 on my PSP, haha.

Why oh why Sony haven't you tried to get this out sooner? If it's not brought out soon enough, the PSP may die, if it isn't already unfortunatley (apart from homebrew, which is all I play
Seriously, I'd buy this within a heartbeat if I could.

However, Toca 3 is a pretty good alternative, and it's not like there are any driving games on the DS that are going to rival anything available on the PSP, which has plenty of racing games coming.
Besides, the PSP is getting a Metal Gear Solid game, and that game is a lot more suited to the PSP's controls anyway. (And supports the GPS apparently, which is just crazy ... )
And MGS is one of the most popular games ever. As was GTA, which is also getting a new version with the old one just becoming a budget title. So the PSP gets some very high profile games, and is doing just fine.
I also think that now that UMD prices have been slashed considerably, suddenly UMD sales will do much better, and probably movie studios will get the hint. But at the same time we are also getting the downloadable alternative soon.
And then there's the PSOne emulator that's coming, and the Camera, GPS, etc. I don't think that the PSP is in a lot of trouble really.
Certainly it is getting a lot of Tekken love from me. I'm curious to how the Tekken bundle will do in Europe when it's released in September.

The producer of GT is automobile obsessed, and has stated that he would include damage when there is enough power to simulate the effects of damage in a realistic manner.

I mean... if you made something... would you want it being shown all banged up and damaged?
Didn't think so...
Anyways.. i think GT4 Mobile will eventually come out. They know how the U.S. craves for GT.... and i guess they want the best for a release like this. I don't think they can get PS2 quality graphics on a friggin 222mhz clock... so until we get that new battery and games are starting to clock the game at 333 mhz...
We're far from receiving a GT4.
Just my 2 cents,

GT4 was on the way to be releaced with firmware 2.7 or 2.8 , but since DEVH**k can emulate the firmware and you all still dont need to update your 1.5 sony try to find a way to make theyr new firmware incompatible with devh**k or new security stuff.
i guess since firmware 2.5 ,if their wasnt devh**k , GT4 was out on psp worldwild
think about it ,
